Cutting teeth quickly bend once it hits the smallest rocks in the ground. Quickly folding in and stopping the plugs from releasing.

Worked great, but I had sore muscles after. Bought 2'×5' roll of centipede sod. I plugged area 6" apart,,then made plugs from sod and plugged in holes. 3" plugs, thick sod, to repair 6'×8' area grass had been killed. Took me about 3 hours, but grass is coming back great. More expensive than couple other ones I'd seen, but worth the 50$ price.

Cup teeth metal is too thin. After 10 plugs teeth were bending inwards.I had to flare the teeth outwards slightly, otherwise the plug could not be ejected without hitting the release lever with a hammer. The release lever began bending from having to use excessive force to eject cut plug. I bent it back and an additional 10 degrees plus the above mod to the teeth to make this tool work correctly. I also sharpened the teeth to facilitate cutting ease.Overall, inferior metal thicknesses were employed critically destroying the function of the tool. The ejection lever needs either thicker metal at the connection point, or a corner gusset to keep lever from bending. The cutting cup and teeth need metal 2x thicker than this one. Teeth should be hardened.

I like the concept of this tool, as I'm often pulling up plugs from one area using a full shovel and placing them elsewhere. The problem with this particular one is it arrived nicely packaged, but with two of the cutting tines bent inward. I am in the process of the replacement/return process and will update the review upon receipt and use of the replacement.

I use this to fill in bald patches of lawn. (St Augustine spreads by runners/stolons; not seed).First, find an area of established SA, away from foot traffic and cut out your grass plugs. Then find a bare spot of lawn and cut out plugs of bare earth. Then simply exchange the plugs.Hint: use an aerosol can of cooking oil spray to coat the inside of the cutter ... this will make it easier to extract the plugs! My only dislike: the footplate used to remove the plug needs to be larger, as it's sometimes difficult to push the plug out.

I had high hopes for this tool to be used for some 3” grass plugs we purchased. The tool at first unwrapping seemed solid, however upon first use, I realized it was not going to be very good. The jagged ends bent, making hole production even more difficult. Our ground is not terribly rocky, if I found any rocks while trying to make a hole, the rocks were not big ones. So not sure why the ends bent so easily. The soil was also not easy to remove, the plunger got very difficult to push after only a few holes being dug. After the difficulty with this, I looked back at the reviews and now realize the majority are not verified purchases but are Vine reviews.

This works great as long as the soil is not too wet. Too wet or too dry and it doesn't want to pull plug out of ground when you pull up. I had to tilt it sideways a bit to get it to pull out. Also, if soil was too wet, it was hard to get the plug out with the foot release. Otherwise, when you get the soil in the right condition, it works great. I'm very satisfied with it. If you're plugging a lot, make sure you get the grandchildren out there and make a game of replacing the plugs in the holes. lol
