I ordered this hemp for my chicken nesting boxes in June. It smells good , repels bugs, is dust free and is very soft. I cleaned out the boxes and replaced with the same product 7 months later.It’s worth the money.

I’ve ordered 3 different times. Once from the OldDominion website and twice from Amazon. The spring 2024 bale was finely chopped. The fall 2024 was rougher cuts and I almost switched due to that bale. January 2025 order consisted of two bales, and both are back to the finely shredded hemp.For reference: This hemp has been great for chicks and significantly reduced the odor from raising chicks. Main use has been in a small coop with 4 chickens and for snakes. (Snakes have a mix of hemp and a tropical floor bedding).

We just love this bedding. We have used this product many times, but recently got a batch that was larger and chunky, but it seems to be back to soft, smaller pieces that are great for my roller pigeon nesting boxes. Does a great job of keeping the smell down, zero dust, and lasts for such a long time.

I have been utilizing Dominion Hemp for several years now, and I must say that this product is excellent for our poultry. It boasts minimal dust, making it a favorite among our chickens, especially on cold, rainy days. The chickens are so content that they are reluctant to leave their coop. Employing the deep litter method, I have found that by turning the hemp once a month, it can last for years. I personally replace our hemp every 6 months to 1 year max. With just a $100 investment, I am set for 2-3 years. This cost is even lower than dining out, and the most significant advantage is the well-being of your livestock, ensuring their respiratory health. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved. This bedding/litter material is super absorbent. It takes up moisture better than any alternative I’ve tried so far. It’s also the best smelling option I’ve tried. The odor control is so good that I could easily get away with changing the litter 2-3 times less often than I had been with other products if I were so inclined. It’s also truly dust free unlike other products I’ve tried. The best part is because it’s made of hemp, for me it’s hypoallergenic. Did I mention how much easier it is to clean up? Unlike with paper or wood shavings, this stuff vacuums up very quickly and more easily. Don’t be put off by the price. The value of this product over other bedding or litter materials is excellent. Healthier animals with fewer upper respiratory infections means less veterinary costs! A product that doesn’t start to smell bad quickly with use and which absorbs more liquids lasts longer, making it a better value. The quality is top notch. Invest in the health of your animals and buy the best, you won’t regret it.
