Door/WIndow sensors are designed to secure the perimeter of the residential premise, and provide the ability to add various automation services. The Door/Window sensor, which consists of a magnet that attaches to a door or window, will communicate door events to the home security system. When the magnet is moved away from the sensor, a signal will be sent to convenience lighting based on system settings.

Update: I'm giving up on this. It fell off the network again needing a new battery after 9 days. Right before it died it was still reporting 100% battery... sooo yeah. Simply sticking a new battery in didn't work I had to remove it from the network and then re-add it. I don't know if that's the fault of the device but having to proactively replace the battery on a weekly basis is a non-starter.Original review:These must be new, old stock as the battery that's included dies pretty quickly. Just be sure to order some replacements when you get this and you'll be fine. It takes CR2450 button cells. Mine started at 78% battery remaining and died at 73%. You can pop the cover off and swap the battery without disturbing the stickiness, which is good because the stickiness is pretty serious.I'm using it with a Nabu Casa SkyConnect Zigbee dongle with Home Assistant under docker on a NUC. Setup was remarkably easy. I pulled the battery tab and then Home Assistant told me it found a new device. I'm using it to detect when the pantry door opens and closes so it Home Assistant can turn the lights on and off. Yes, I have indeed put that much effort into being lazy.It also includes a temperature sensor, I don't know why. It also reports in so infrequently that you don't get much of a graph. I also already have like nine things that report temperature on my house already, I don't need a tenth.

These are cheap and easy to set up. They say "Xfinity" but they are normal Zigbee devices and work with anything that supports zigbee. Homeassistant adds them with no issues. They expose battery level (though it takes minutes to an hour after adding it to HA for the battery level to show up) as well as temperature, which is a nice extra. They're also really useful as a simple switch contact sensor if you're able to solder. You can attach a pair of wires across the reed switch and they will happily report the state of that connection, drawing the same amount of power from the beefy CR2450 cell regardless of the on/off state of the contacts.

They connect right up and they have a nice sleek profile. I would say that the batteries are old I need to be replaced as soon as you get them they went from 100% to 89% overnight. The temperature sensor is a wildly inaccurate and shouldn't be relied upon. Also why would you want a temperature sensor at the door? That's the worst place to try to get an accurate temperature in your home.

These little Zigbee door/window sensors are my best kept secret of my Home Assistant setup (oops, I'm spilling the beans!).I use them for every door and window because they are so inexpensive, they pair perfectly, and they have been rock solid connectivity-wise. Plus, they're small and unassuming; maybe because they are designed for a boring in-home security system, but they really do sort of disappear.Battery life has been great so far; I've had them for months and they have used very little battery as reported by Home Assistant. They did come with less than 100% charge being reported, but they have not drained significantly since then, so I assume they're just not the best coin batteries included. They seem to be good quality; again, they are designed for an ISP's home security system so they are not necessarily the most premium looking/feeling, but they seem like what you would expect from a professional security system. They're sturdy white plastic, and come with a variety of spacers to line things up.They come with adhesive for both parts, but it's that nasty super permanent rip-the-paint-off 3M adhesive without Command-style pull tabs; again, think permanent professional anti-tamper security system. If you are not 1000% committed to leaving these installed forever, you probably want to use something like small command strips.

I picked these up to use as additional sensors in my home system. I use Sonoff Pro bridge that's been flashed with Tasmota, and had no problems pairing and setting them up. They work quite well, and have seen minimal battery drain over the past few weeks of usage. As far as function goes, they deliver as promised. There are two things that are a little off about them, when it comes to their physical look and operation. The style looks ok, but feels a bit dated, with the large angular edges. The magnetic (slim) part comes with two backings, one for screw on, the other for the included 3M foam tape (cut to size). However, the magnetic part is probably the one you least want to remove. The part with the battery (a CR2450) is the larger part, which comes only with a sticky pad. The larger one is the one you'll want to remove to change the battery! The device does have an LED near the top, and most of the way up to the left is a switch inside a small divot that handles tamper protection, and acks as a push-able switch to trigger initial pairing. I'll note that the tamper switch shows status only as it changes. It does not seem to have a memory or counter for past tampers. That functionality is likely put into the controller for the Xfinity system. Still, it's nice to know if it's been tampered with.To replace the battery, simply lift the white shell casing away from the beveled edges until you can lift it slightly. The while shell then slides off, giving access to the switch and battery.
