A lot of people knock Dorman quality but this piece is every bit the quality of the original. A no brainer if you are servicing the trans and removing the pan. For less than 50 bucks I'll never have to drop the pan again, just do an occasional spill and fill. Fantastic quality at a reasonable price. What else can ask for?

I have a 2008 wrangler jk with the 4 speed auto. This went on with out a problem and plug is great. I would think about getting a better washer for the plug. Other then that it's a good pan beats the OEM one that doesn't have a drain plug. FYI the WIC gasket and filter set do not use RTV. From the factory these come with gaskets use that.

The only issue was with the bad design of the drain plug. Solid product otherwise. Perfect fit for my 09 Wrangler

This look's, feels and weighs VERY close to the OEM on my 2007 Wrangler. i used a felpro gasket with a bit too much Permatex High tack, but the pan is solid, no leaks, drain plug works perfectly. 1 important point posted here as a reminder. When you install this pan.... TAKE THE DAMN MAGNET OUT OF THE OLD PAN AND PUT IT IN THIS ONE. I didnt and the pan is on so solid, i dont really want to have to pull it off. I am going to call Dorman this week and see if they have a drain plug for this pan thats magnetic and/or get the specs of the drain plug and find one elsewhere that is magnetic. Ill post again if successful.UPDATE 12-2-20. well my dumass recovered from leaving the magnet out of the pan. I found a very strong magnetic drain plug on Amazon that fits this pan PERFECTLY. 14x1.5x13MM Outlaw racing magnetic plug OR2620...works great...problem solved. i also put a very strong neodymium magnet on the bottom of the pan and that works great as well.

This pan is an improvement over the stock one. It is thicker and heavier, and the flange area is robust. The stock pan had been overtightened and was deformed around the bolt holes. Plus it was rusted. The Dorman pan is definitely an improvement. I used it with a Lube locker gasket and things are looking good so far. There was no raised dimple for the magnet (mine was shaped like a big O). I guess I could have used a smaller magnet to fit in the recess that is where the raised dimple was on my OEM pan. Oh well, I don't plan on taking the pan off anytime soon.A minor issue is the plug leaks. The copper washer sucks. I tightened it down but it still leaks. I'll have to change out the washer.6-30-2020 Update: I replaced the washer on the drain plug. No leaks. The pan is dry as well. I just installed a trans temp gauge with a threaded adapter into the drain plug hole. I tell everyone with a 42RLE to get this pan. It also holds an extra quart of fluid. And use ATF+4 only.

Quick review upon receiving this item (10/24/2017) - I haven't installed it yet (still testing), but will update the review when I do.This was purchased to replace the OEM non-drain plug pan equipped on a 2007 Dodge RAM 1500 2WD 4-DR (42RLE).The biggest complaint in all the reviews was that the plug leaked - so I wanted to address that immediately. So - Taking the "plug leak" into consideration, I filled the pan with fluid in the shop, placed it over a paper towel and bowl, and left it for 24+ hours.*No Leak* - The supplied bolt was set at approximately 42 lb.ft torque (57 N.m) and did not have any indication of leaking. So initially, the concept that these pans leak is either due to incorrect fitment of the drain plug, incorrect tightening of the drain plug, or perhaps a quality control issue with previous pans. I can only speak to that fact that the pan I purchased did not leak. I would encourage anyone purchasing this product perform this test *prior* to installation to allow time to resolve any replacement necessary.Observations:-The pan appears to be of quality manufacture for a metal stamped part, and has consistent and adequate painting of it's surface. There are no burrs, sharp edges or other obvious defects.-The pan with drain plug equipped was shipped in it's box (no outer box) and did not contain any other item (gasket, instructions, etc.)Recommendations:-Purchase the filter and gasket, and proper ATF to perform the correct service:

Perfect replacement fit for Liberty KK 42RLE. Also love that it has a plug in it for check/drain as the original on the vehicle did not. The original pan was corroding and starting to leak. This pan is good quality, from what I can tell, with thick metal and a nice coating. Not included is a magnet to catch little particles of metal which may be floating around in your transmission fluid; I only realized this AFTER installing the new pan...d'oh! Kind of strange this was excluded as the Dorman differential cover I purchased simultaneously did have one.Paired this pan with a Lube Locker gasket and have not experienced any leaks since finishing the service. The minus-one star is for not having a magnet in the pan.LEGIT REVIEW - Item purchased with my own, hard-earned money
