I changed the factory's original bulbs in my 1999 Ford F250 with LED bulbs. The LED versions have large radiators on the back that barely fit in the factory retainer rings. These bulb retainers fit correctly into the headlight housing and provide the correct interface for the bulbs. The radiator extends out of the back of these rings, making it easy to position the bulbs and exposing the radiator to air for better cooling.

These are a perfect replacement for the Ford lamp retainers at about half the price. The quality and fitment are good.

Fits the OEM bases on my '04 superduty great.Really good alternative to the collars from Ford and a little less than half the price.Only thing I would change is the overall length of the collar, its not quite long enough to provide any protection for the actual plug of the bulb.I thought I read somewhere that the package came with 2. That's not true, only one collar

I bought some new LED headlight my F-350 and the old housing was too long for the new headlights and a cord from the headlights was in the way and the housing didn’t fit quite right. Scared that it might pop off while driving. I ended up drilling a small hole on each side of the old housing and put a zip tie through it to hold the headlight until the new housing came in. Once the new one came in, I was able to pop out the old one and pop in the new ones within 3 mins. If you’re getting new lights and need this, I recommend you buying this first rather than drilling a hole like I did. If I ever need to shot back to the old housing, now I have to worry about the integrity of the old housing.Either way, I’m satisfied with this product so far.

Bought a pair for my 1997 ford ranger which uses 9007 headlamp bulb. Tried to put the lock rings on my headlamps but had a problem with the rings not wanting to fit on the headlamp housing. After a little alteration of filing the nubs down a little it then fit fine. Appearently on some 9007 headlamps the 3 ring nubs that do the locking were a little too long. A little filing did the trick. Can't give the lock rings better than 3 because of this. It wasn't as bad some things I have had to alter to fit before but I shouldn't have even had to do this.

Works and fits great. I bought these to fit my 03 powerstroke headlights. I bought LED and the wire came out of the side of the LED headlights. So the original headlight nut was way to tall so I ordered these and it worked perfectly.

The retainers are shorter in depth compared to the OEM (Ford) style. The difference allows clearance for most LED bulbs.There was one problem with both retainers that I received. The 3 locking tabs were longer than the OEM part. This prevented the retainer from fitting the headlamp assembly. I used a file to remove small amount of material from each tab until they fit the assembly.Overall I am happy with the part but the modification should not have been necessary.

I recently purchased a pair of Dorman HELP! 42415 Headlamp Bulb Retainer rings to aid in installing a pair of 9007 LED headlight bulbs in my 1999 F250 Super Duty pickup. The bulbs came with a housing containing a small cooling fan in the rear with the electrical pigtail sticking out the back. The factory bulb retaining ring is approximately 2 1/2" long and would not fit over the cooling fan. I decided to order the Dorman rings rather than attempting to cut the 20 year old brittle plastic retaining rings. The last thing I needed was to have my truck be out of commission for night driving because the modification failed.I ordered the rings and had them in my hand the next day. Thank you Amazon Prime. The Dorman rings are approximately half the length of the factory rings. Installation was very simple and took less than 10 minutes. After opening the hood, I unhooked the wiring harness from the existing headlight and twisted the retaining ring 1/4 turn counter clockwise and removed the old halogen bulb. I inserted the new LED bulb into the Dorman ring until it clicked into place, then inserted the bulb in to the headlight housing. Twisted the new ring 1/4 turn clockwise, connected the electrical pigtail and installation was complete.The Dorman rings feel very solid and are made of sturdy plastic like the factory rings. There are markings to indicate that they work with 9004 as well as 9007 bulbs. Overall I am very pleased with the quality, price, and ease of installation. Dorman products have served me well in the past and I am sure these retaining rings will do the same. Highly recommend.
