First I had ordered an ATP brand installation was pretty smooth but had a engine vibration, installed this Dorman unit and it worked perfectly!

The correct product and fit for my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8L engine. Don’t forget to purchase oil seal for crank shaft that sits under this balancer.

Works great.Tips:Make sure you rent the puller from your local auto parts store. It's not coming off without one.I also had to use a 2x4 & sledge hammer to get the new one on.This isn't a defect, it's designed that way, just like the original part.

Installed it on my 2004 Town & Country. It worked perfectly, but be ready for a battle to get it back on without the installation tool. I had to rig up a separate bolt and washer setup to get it in far enough for the original bolt threads to catch and pull it on the rest of the way.

I bought this piece thinking that it would solve the problem of chirping because it was vibrating more than normal and therefore I thought that the belt was dancing and that's why it produced that sound. It turned out to be the hydraulic pump at the end that had the problem but I feel super happy because the whole belt and pulleys are aligned and serene. Very good buy.

This is a concentric drive-pulley/harmonic-balancer assembly and it is a very tight interference fit on the crankshaft snout of these engines: the crankshaft snout diameter is about 3.5 mils or so larger than the bore on this unit. I would NOT recommend using the threads in the snout to pull it on. You will probably end up stripping the threads or breaking a bolt in the snout (the recommended torque for the balancer bolt (class 10.9 steel, 10mm x 1.5mm, 60 mm long) is 40 ft-lb). Use a proper harmonic balancer installer and lots of lubrication on all threads and the shaft. The installer must have a 5-3/4" long adapter rod with at least 3/4" of M10X1.5 thread on the crankshaft side. To make the job easier I wrapped a bag of ice around the snout and warmed up the balancer, in a sealed zip-loc bag, in boiling water, for 15-20 minutes. Even after this procedure the tool worked very hard to push the assembly on the snout. If you go this route use leather gloves to handle the hot pulley. It stays hot for a while. Do NOT use a heat gun or an oven: you will wreck the rubber interposer. Total time for the job, if you have the tools and good luck, and pay attention, is about 40 minutes.

The new harmonic balancer fit perfectly. No more pulley wobble. Install was easier than expect, but I had an impact wrench to take the bolt out. The most difficult part of the job was installing the new pulley without using the Chrysler install tool. Here's what I did:I went to a hardware store and bought a M10 1.50 bolt & nut, which is what the thread inside the crankshaft was ('97 T&C 3.8L). The bolt needs to be at least two inches longer than the bolt you removed to allow for space to add a nut and several thick washers (washers should be about 2.0" diameter). Place the HB on the crank snout and VERY gently tap it so that it stays. Be sure the HB is straight. Thread the nut all the way on to the new bolt, then add the washers (place a little grease between the washers). Then thread the bolt into the crank snout until it stops (i.e., it is threaded all the way in). Then use a wrench to slowly turn the nut so that it compresses the washers onto the HB. You'll need to put a lot of energy into turning the wrench because the HB will not go on easy. IMPORTANT: Be sure the HB is going on straight and is perfectly perpendicular to the crank snout all along the process. Continue to slowly turn the nut until it no longer turns. At this point the HB should be seated all the way onto the crank snout. Take a look to be sure that it is back to where the original HB was. Now, remove the bolt along with all the washers and nut. Last step is to put the original bolt back on (very tight!).
