Once you get used to aftermarket parts not always fitting, you'll be OK.The actuator comes with a new bracket and speed nuts. In the box it comes with new rivets, but no bolts for the new bracket. Once you drill out the factory rivets on the old part, you have 2 choices. 1, use the supplied bracket. 2, re-rivet the new part. If you use the new bracket, you must supply your own bolts and drill the mounting holes in the door bigger. If you re-rivet (using your old bracket), you must "wallow" out 1 of the mounting holes. The alignment pin doesn't fit.I chose option 2. I wallowed out the old bracket and riveted in the new part.It does work as it should. It went on a 1999 K1500 Suburban, RR door. ( for reference)If you don't mind a little "fitting", don't shy away from it.

Sure beats the heck out of climbing across the cab or walking around a long wheel base. crewcab truck to lock or unlock the doors.

I installed two of these and they both failed in the same way within a few weeks after being installed for six months. The plastic gear inside stripped off the teeth and locked up so you couldn't even lock or unlock the door manually.Nothing is inherently wrong with plastic gears if designed and made properly, but something is wrong with these.

The actuator came in overnight which was a very pleasant surprise when ordering.Installed on a 2005 Chevrolet Astro Van passenger door.As some pointed out the mounting bracket is not installed on the actuator as it is set to be universal to the door being installed. To me this is ingenious as this cuts down on product sitting on a shelf somewhere.Yes you must remove four nuts and four screws, I myself did not find this to be an inconvenience as other have. If you don't wish to deal with this you can pay more money for the AC Delco unit. And yes the original actuators are installed with rivets at the factory, simply drill the center out with a quality metal bit, nothing from Harbor Freight though. This will definitely save your door from damaging the door by using an air chisel. For mounting I read in reviews the mounting holes did not align for an Astro van, turn the bracket around as it's supposed to mounted on the actuator and the holes will align perfectly.I did the driver's side last year and found that using a 1/4" x 1/2" aluminum rivet is the perfect size for mounting with no issues of being loose.I was also surprised to find that included with the actuator were tabs to mount with screws which AC Delco does not.I just installed this unit about an hour ago, it works perfectly. Solved my issue of the doors not fully locking or unlocking with the switch.I did find that the door handle and locking arms were overlapped behind the arm rest mount. Bending these into the proper position solved the stiffness experienced when unlocking the door with the key. This however was not the root cause of the door switch not unlocking and locking the door.I did not provide a rating for longevity as I just purchased and installed it. Overall I think the product is very good and worth the spend as once I reassembled the door the lock seemed to work much better than it ever has.I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone.

Works like factory part. Easy install. Use a rivet or machine screw and re-use factory bracket... one included is useless. I used on right rear barn door on 99 Tahoe. Dropped right in and worked first try. I cant speak to longevity, but I dont use the rear cargo doors daily so Im guessing it must last a few years? Longer? The factory piece lasted 20 years, we'll see. I would buy again.

Worked perfectly on my 2000 Tahoe Limited barn door. Like other reviews say, you do have to put the original mounting bracket on because what comes with this actuator won’t work. Not sure why they even send it but taking the old one off and putting it on is simple. The whole job took about 20-30 minutes because I had to grind the rivets off to remove the old one. I also read in other reviews that the rivets they send are too small but since I don’t have a rivet gun, I just used either 3/16” or 1/4” bolts and nuts. No more needing the key to unlock the barn doors!! 😃

Used this actuator to repair the lock on the driver's side door of my 2003 Chevy Astro. The repair was fairly easy and the part fit perfectly. Only required removing the inside door handle/panel, removing a few rivets on the old actuator, connecting the power to the new actuator (just plug in), and re-attaching it with some new rivets!

My Chevy Suburban is 13 years old and two of the door actuators do not work anymore. So I bought one by VDO and another one by Dorman. I was happy with the Dorman because it came with a rubber boot and 5 rivets (two of which I used for installing the VDO actuator). The VDO does not. But the VDO seems to be more solidly built. I know that VDO makes some OEM parts for BMW, so I expect it to last longer than the Dorman as the Dorman housing is actually plastic with a fake metal can on top. We'll see how they flare, but I hope I never will find out as I will probably not keep my car more than another 5 years. Oh one more thing, the VDO fits perfectly into the original bracket but I had to drill and file the bracket to fit the Dorman unit (3 mins job). If another one of the door actuator craps out on my Chevy, I will probably buy a VDO, though it cost $5 more. I could go either way though.
