9/10 times will not fix vein issue even after a relearn. Spend the money and either clean or replace your turbo.

Worked great for just over a month then got another P2563 code. Waste of money. Went with Dorman because they have been around forever. Big mistake. Don't get this.

Item will work on a 2005 Lly duramax. A Harness adaptor was included with the sensor an had to be used to make it work. I had no cutting or modifying of plugs to make it work just unplug the old sensor. Plug the adaptor and then the dorman sensor. So far so good!

I was kind of afraid to buy it for my 05 GMC Sierra because when I put the year in it says it wouldn't fit. But after reading KB's review above mine (or below) I saw he said he had to mod the plug a little and it worked great. I then ordered it and he was right! I just took a utility knife and heated the blade up with my propane torch and sliced off the little tab in the plug he was talking about that didn't match up exactly. Went right in and cured my P2563 and P0046 codes. Dealer wanted 585 bucks for this sensor and the auto parts stores didn't seem to carry it. One tried to sell me a boost position sensor that wasnt the right one. I first thought there may be something wrong with my turbo because I heard a strange noise on deceleration when it first through the codes but must have been the vanes out of place because of the sensor. Local shop wanted 100 bucks just to put it on the scope to tell me what was wrong with it also.I didn't have the fancy socket but a 1 inch open end fit it beautifully. Was kind of tough getting the old plug routed out from where it was but I didnt want to cut it in case it was not the problem. I cleared the codes with my cheap code reader and took it for about a 45 minute drive. Runs better and the mileage seems better also. Didnt need any reprograming at all either.

It was easy to install. It works fine. Paid 200$ for it compared to 1000$ from the dealer. Highly recommend it. Truck was shaking in the morning but when I installed the sensor the truck stopped shaking and idles normally.

Works great so far. I installed it easily, without even having to get (or fabricate) a fancy socket with the slot in the side. Installing this cleared my p2563 code, and the truck has since passed emissions. The Tech2 is NOT required to relearn this sensor, at least not on my 06 LBZ. Once the ECT reaches 104F (40C), with the A/C off, and the truck in park or neutral, the ECU will command the vane position solenoid to sweep the vanes. This should result in a re-calibration. I have a Tech2 clone, and was able to confirm that the engine had learned the VPS on that drive cycle, but did not have to place the system into any learn mode. One installation note: be sure to tightly clamp the Intake Resonator on before starting, or you will throw a P0299 for underboost, due to leaks. I made this mistake and the engine went into limp mode. Finally, the actual size of this sensor is 25mm, not 1" as others have suggested.

I have been putting of changing this for a long time. I have a 2004.5 LLY Duramax. I checked with the Dealer and they wanted something like $700 to replace it and re-learn the vane position sensor. I bought this and installed with no Tech 2 and my check engine light went off. After a while I felt uncertain and bought a Tech 2 from website for $400 and went to re-learn it. It did not need to be re-learned. I did have to modify the plug on the sensor, it has a plastic fin inside that blocks it from connecting, I cut that out with a tiny set of flush cut wire cutters, specialty cutters not regular size. You could use an exacto knife. As far as needing a Tech 2, I do not know, maybe this one is different, but I checked the desired levels verse actual levels on the Tech 2 like they show you and my Vane Position Sensor was right on the money. Truck runs a lot better, still saved some money, the Tech 2 doesnt do as much as I hoped but it does have some cool functions. The re-learn position would not come up on my Tech 2 so I guess that means it was recognized by my Truck. All the videos and stuff I have seen and read showned the re-learn function coming up automatically, mine did not.
