This is considered a wear item by the mfr., the spring broke and it was very cumbersome to shift into park. High quality, quick and easy replacement. Just like new again.

To spare the long explanation and to possibly clear up qualifications. 18 year master certified tech. This part is trash is is plain made incorrectly. If you want to use 1st gear on your column shift, nah Doorman doesn’t want you to have that. You want a smooth shift at the column through PRND321 nope Dorrman doesn’t want that either.Pro tip drive the pivot pin out and replace the spring causing the sloppy shift lever. Costs a lot less and still utilizes factory casted and machined parts. Also super simple. Good day

It was better than my extremely work out one but it still didn’t fix my issue. I replaced my shift cable with oem and than the shift column and still didn’t have full shifting range couldn’t get into 1st and ther was lots of sloop in each gear.

This replacement part replaced the oem part except for one important thing. Your original shift handle will fit loosely in the new part. I don't know if the opening in this replacement part is too big or the manufacturer requires you to replace the shift handle when you replace this part. I took a tin can and made some shims to make the shifter fit tighter in the new part. Otherwise this part fits as designed. Be sure you watch as many installation videos as possible as replacing this part can take hours or you can damage other parts in the process.

So far so good on 2005 gmc yukon denali! Not sure what everyone's fuss is about this part ,but I believe the reason why it maybe faulty after installation is because the spring itself needs to be greased or at least that's how the broken one was, full of some lubricant to the point I thought something back fired but there's nothing fluid wise going towards the shift mechanism! So I brought this up to my mechanic and he did agree that some lubricant does need to go into it, but I didn't see what he actually put on it,even though I try to learn but stay out the way at the same time so he can do his job! But as my mechanic suggested just buy a new one cause you don't know what's wrong with the old one vs just buying the spring itself, cause the lubricant could be inside the shaft of the mechanism!!!Also the spring being popped doesn't mean the whole mechanism is faulty just the spring, itself so save the old part and buy the spring ,it's under $10 for OME /gmc/ac delco!!! And keep it as the backup so whenever the new doorman pops, you got OG backup with the newer spring!!!Also just get the protection plan from Amazon, 4 years for another $10 I can live with that as we see the part is already fair priced!the popped spring will give you power issues trying to start the vehicle, so don't look at the battery as the issue!!!!!There's videos on YouTube that will walk any novice through the process ,only reason I didn't do it myself is because of the bad weather here in the tri-state, but my mechanic only charged me $70 and a sandwich, lol other mechanics online price checking is a $100 to install this very simple part! The videos you want is the ones where they take out the ignition switch, thats the only way to get the wire hook out that's attached to the shift mechanism! Take your time you can do it if you're handy!!!!!!*zoom in on pics to see the lubricant/Grey looking grease!!!!Good luck!

I liked the fact it was less expensive that an original GM part. It was easy to install but most times it is very hard to get out of Park.

Don't know what the deal is with all of the negative comments. This part installed easily, fit perfectly and is working better than the 285,000 mile original that was in my truck. The handle shifts into each position crisply and accurately, just like new, the key slips in and out without catching, plus it Cost half of OEM.
