An exact fit for my 2000 Blazer LS. There is a very informative video on how to replace the cable on YouTube, I used it as a guide to installing this and it was relatively easy.

The hood release cable was exactly what I needed. Works like a charm and relatively easy to replace. If you aren’t familiar replacing this part, I recommend watching some videos on how to do it as easy as possible. I’m no mechanic by any means, but I still managed to replace in it about an hour. The product does say it won’t work on a 2003 GMC Jimmy, but it does, so don’t let that fool you.

Great fit, relatively easy install other than the rubber seal from cab to engine compartment can be a bit tight for handspace. Broke my latch cable retaining clip on last step of the install....dammit haha

I installed this on my 2000 Chevy Blazer. Some reviews said The wire was too long but mine was perfect. Install was a bit more involved than some of the reviews who said you could just use the old line as a guide to fish the new one through the fire wall. This is incorrect. The fire wall has a rubber grommet that prevents the new hardware to come through. In order to get this out you will need to remove some things out of the way. See photos. Old grommet comes out and the new grommet is on the new product. It slides from inside the car towards the engine to set the new grommet. Other than trying to find the 3 bolts that hold the e-brake on it wasn’t bad. On my 2000 Blazer it did not have bolts to take off part of the front grill which is needed. Just find the metal fittings and pull. I definitely recommend the use of a few YouTube videos that are out there.

Replacement for OEM cable on 2000 Chevy Blazer. Once the stuff under the hood was moved out of way. Tied a pull string on hood side of old cable. Pulled old out and used pull string to pull new one in. Works like a charm. Should have done this years ago. Just be careful removing anything and reinstalling. Some body panels may become brittle with age. Was an issue I had but it was in NO WAY an issue of the new cable.Would recommend.

The Stock Release Spring on the Original Cable that this replaced has seen better days, but held up well for the 20 years that it was in-place for! Had to replace the hood release cable on a 2001 Bravada, and like any old car, there was some head scratching on removing the old cable, because it was installed behind wiring behind the E-Brake Housing which also needed to be replaced. But after routing the cable and connecting to the release, beautiful! One less thing on the project list to fix! Just wished the "Painting" on the Hood Release Symbol on the cable was not so sloppy, oh well...

Good replacement cable and it works like a charm. I wish the handle was replaceable then I would have kept the original that was in the truck ans simply use the cable with it. This one is cheap and doesn’t feel durable but it solved my problem. Now I have a working cable to open my truck hood. I recommend this product.

2001 Sonoma:When you're installing this, remember to open the clips on the rad support and behind the washer bottle. You shouldn't have to COMPLETELY remove the washer bottle, but remove your air filter box and push the bottle out of the way a bit. Tie a length of wire to the end as you bring the old one through your firewall or you'll be taking apart the bottom of your dash and/or getting your kid to run the new one back through the hole. Annoying, as I don't have kids. The cable goes under the parking brake pedal, but I was able to just remove the two bottom bolts and slide the old cable out sideways and new one in. There's a new grommet for the firewall and a sleeve for where it passes under the brake lever bracket. You'll need 8mm (air intake hose clamp) 10mm and 13mm short sockets, a flat screwdriver and whatever your truck needs for removing the kick panel.Be prepared to realign your latch as removing it is the absolute best way to attach the cable without damaging the cable return spring. In fact, take this opportunity to replace and/or lubricate the latch with some white grease.

Does just what it is supposed to do! I couldn't get the hood opened on my Jimmy until I installed it because mine was broken. Dorman does a good job with replacement parts such as this. It was very easy to install and fit perfectly. Oh yeah, the price was GREAT!

It's made of cheap plastic. Don't open your hood angrily! It got the job done and works fine, but I don't trust its durability. For such a pain in the butt job, you might as well buy something better and have peace of mind.
