working well. daughters mini was randomly stalling at a light when trying to take off...(not safe) And idle was fluctuating up and down...(hunting) Changed the exhaust vanos as that was what the check engine light was showing needed replacement. Car is running properly and idling smoothly now.

I replaced this and it worked fine, no issues with it whatsoever. The issue came when I needed to loosen my timing chain tensioner. I hit the wire connector with the wrench (totally my fault) with really what was not very much force and it snapped completely off. Like the plastic broke away from the metal part. It worked for the time it was intact, however it just seems too fragile for such an integral engine component. Use at your own risk!

I installed 2 of these (intake and exhaust) on a 2013 Mini Cooper S with the N18 engine. The fit was perfect. The brackets did NOT require any modification as mentioned on other reviews. Car had a P13C9 code, once these solenoids were installed the code was cleared. The literature from Dorman recommends an oil change also with installing these. I changed the oil and filter before starting the car with the new solenoids installed.

If you've removed intake tubing before, you won't have trouble with this job. Nice to haves are pick tools and a boroscope to help line up the bracket for the bolt. (intake side). Oil will gush out so be ready for that. My actuator was intermittently sticking cause codes. So far so good.

I scanned my 2011 Mini Cooper due to a MIL dash light and a stalling issue. Scan indicated the issue was a faulty vanos solenoid. I ordered an inexpensive (cheap) pair of vanos, and although it cleared the malfunction indicator lamp on the dash, the vehicle still exhibited erratic idle issues at start-up (which would subside when the vehicle warmed up). Performance also seemed to suffer. I was told by a garage that it was likely due to a stretched timing chain, which I didn’t think was the case. I ordered a pair of these vanos on Amazon - approx $175 tax included for the pair (dealer wanted $486 + tax for the pair). I installed these and BAM the issues were gone! No dash lights, no erratic idle, no stalling, purrs like a kitten and amazing power restored! Save yourself the hassle of buying something too cheap and go with these Dorman replacement parts - fit and perform exactly as the original parts!

I bought these to replace two lower-priced units that made the cold idle crazy variable and caused surging under high loads at highway speeds. Maybe it was just my car's reaction (so I'm not leaving them a bad review) but these solved the issues right away. If you have a non-turbo Base model Mini r56 N14, remove the intake side bolt, catching the bolt with a magnet, then pull the solenoid out and disconnect the wires. Try not to remove the intake hose, as it's a bear to reinstall!

I wiped a small amount of oil on the O-ring and shaft and it fit perfectly in the engine block. Electrical connector was also right on. Car ran fine after installation.

Ordered the Dorman brand VVT Solenoid for my 2012 Mini Cooper S Convertible. Pricing was excellent, but I did have to trim the bracket some to get it to fit, not a big deal, especially since the price is very good. Been driving for more than 2 month, no issues.

Replaced due to check engine light, half power indicator repeatedly coming on in a 2011 Cooper Countryman ALL4 S with 82K. Dealer diagnostic showed weak VANOS solenoid (this item) and quoted $875 job! Thanks google youtube (see video - 08 R56 MINI COOPER N12 VANOS Solenoid replacement) and amazon for having the part. It took me 15m (had to find the right torx #30 driver for the bolt not a 10mm), but with a little light wiggling (there's an O-ring seals and tight quarters) removed old part - compared (exact match), spread some oil on it and pop right in. Goodbye check engine lights, purrs like a kitten. One finger salute to the dealer service center. Couple of notes for those who have turbo charged engines from the head mini mechanic my dealership; expect failure/degradation around 80K, if you've just driven car 'hard' let engine idle for a couple minutes before shutoff so oil can cool turbo and 15K-25K oil changes are bunk - 5K-7K max for further help in extending turbo life. Also I found turbo lag reduced with K&N air filters, happy trails all!
