This Master Cylinder Worked in my 2003 Ford Focus SVT, the original one was leaking out around the shaft. Installed this new master cylinder and my leak was fixed. Plus this one is mostly made of metal unlike the original so I'm hoping for good longevity.

Product works fine but I had to wait an extra week to get the thing because they said they sent the request to the wrong fulfillment center. Just, why?

Upper fluid fitting inside diameter is too small for fitting to go far enough in to allow the clip to be inserted to secure the hose. A lot of wasted time and effort to have to hunt one locally. Don’t buy car parts on Amazon.

It took me a while to figure out that I had a leaky master cylinder, I first noticed that my break fluid level was low and then a couple of weeks later that my clutch pedal was slippery. After talking a look under the dash I could see the problem, I needed a new master cylinder. This isn't that hard of a job to do, you just need patients, and it helps to remove the drivers seat. After removing the lower dash (4 screws) and then the three sensors for clutch gas and brake. you are pretty much there you then have to pull the lines out, making sure that you keep plenty of fluid in the reservoir so that you don't have to bleed the brakes. Make sure that you have purchased a lot of brake fluid since bleeding the clutch will take some time and lots of fluid, unless you have a pressure bleeder. All in all it was about a 2 hour job and works great for my car, I would recommend to anyone who needs to replace theirs and isn't afraid to get their hands a little dirty, or brake fluidy.

The body of the master cylinder has to slide into slots on the bracket holding the clutch pedal and brake pedal. The posts molded for that purposed on the part have a ridge of plastic the Ford original does not and we had to file it down to fit. Apart from that, it has worked flawlessly. We followed the excellent guide on the focus fanatics forum and it took us just over 4 total hours (a good chunk of that from discovering the fitting issue).

If this master cylinder fails on me I'll come back and edit the review, but for now I'm giving it 5 stars.*edit: 3 years later and still working perfectlyIt came well packaged, very little chance for damage.Yeah it's all plastic, but so was the OEM unit and this one works perfectly so far.It only took me a little over 2 hours to pull out the old one install the new one, and it easily saved me a couple hundred dollars by doing the job myself vs. taking it to a shop.Make sure you get someone to help you bleed the clutch! You're not going to be able to bleed it by yourself and you HAVE to get all the air out of the system.
