This kit has everything I needed to take down the half-fallen oak tree in our yard. It was leaning against a few other trees, and most of it was out of reach of our 18’ pole saw (the grim reaper), so I ordered this kit to bring down the upper branches first. Getting the saw over the branch can be quite a production, with many tries and the cord trying to get tangles everywhere. Once it’s there, and you and your partner get a rhythm going, it cuts right through any size branch. The double sided chain means you don’t have to try to reorient it 30’ up there. Since the saw is essentially out of reach, you have to think carefully about all the angles, and how the branch will fall. If it twists and bind your chain, it’s game over. So far I’ve been able to find ways to get around a stuck chain, but it might not always be possible.

I expected it to be easily used by one person as shown in you video. The instructions that came with it did not encourage that and using it by myself was a struggle. It does seem to be a well made piece of equipment though.

The parts inside were used and dirty. And the chain was broken. Didn't feel like going through the hassle of returning it so I welded the link back together. After that it works fantastic. definitely a two-person job. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't used and broken when I received it

This worked very well for some high limbs we needed to trim. There was some necessarily fiddly/tedious prep work when trying to accurately throw the weighted string over the correct limb without it getting caught or deflected by other limbs/twigs in the way, but once we got the chain in the correct spot, the cutting process was easy and quick. We were able to cut through a 6-8 inch branch in just a couple minutes. Very satisfied with the quality of the kit, most specifically the chain.

I returned this product after I realized that it requires 2 people to make it work.

I got this to put in my outdoor adventure kit. It is small and compact, which is one of the reasons I wanted to get it. The chain is sharp. It will be good for smaller limbs and branches as described.

This tool saved me $1,000!After researching other rope saws on Amazon and seeing how other lower priced options failed and would require additional purchases to work properly, I decided to buy the Nordic Pocket Saw.This saw worked straight out of the package with no quality/craftsmanship issues. I’m very happy with my purchase. The best part, I was able to safely take down a broken tree that was quoted at $1,100 to be taken down by a professional tree service.

A much safer and faster alternative to climbing a tree with a chainsaw! Every piece in the pack is well thought through, it takes a bit of practice to learn how to throw the little orange weight over the right branch, but that is it. After that, cutting is very fast and very safe if you follow the guidelines. As it says in the manual, this is to be used by 2 people, the reason for it is that the chain needs a wide-angle to cut the branch. if you try to do it yourself with a rope on each hand, the chain will get stuck on the branch and eventually break.

This Rope Saw has a double sided saw, no matter what side is over the tree, it will saw proficiently. You need two people with this saw, you cannot do it alone. It's safe and efficient and can cut branches off up to 10 metres high without a ladder and to make sure you are safe there are long straps attached to the hand chain saw so you can actually cut from 10 metres away from the tree so to avoid the branches and debris which will be coming down.It has teeth on every link so it cuts evenly and you wont have to flip the chain around. No matter which side the chain is placed on the branch, the user can start cutting right away without having to flip the chain around. It's fast and efficient and you don't have to pay to get the professionals on the job. There is a 2metre throw line and weight which makes the throwing so much easier. My husband and son have been cutting some high branches in our garden, they are both very pleased with the job this double sided chain saw did, they actually enjoyed doing the sawing.Good value.Thank you for reading my review, I do hope it has helped you.

Got this for some over-hanging trees in my mum and dads garden. However, it seems that you need two of you to use it properly, which sort of defeats the point in my book. If I had a whole team to call on, I wouldn’t need workaround gadgets. If you have someone you can call on to help, this could potentially be handy.

This product is great with practice! Double sided chain is a must. the 1" webbing is perfect for this application. I prefer a throw bag to the hard weight. I will say their instructions could be so much more. If this explained some of the tricks and limitation to the users everyone would be happier. Like: put your line in a bucket and not on the ground. As it turns out the hardest part is throwing the weight. Based on my calculations, no limb over 24' in the air should be cut to obtain the 100 degree angle between cutters. Otherwise it may pinch. Sawing motion is a smooth rhythm and not jerky. You are better off with light pressure to start until you get a sense of how it is cutting. Also, make sure the chain is straight and not looped as it will not work and you may break your chain. String provided is rather light and I broke it and lost my weight. Given the cost, I think there is some easy inexpensive improvements to be made. Provide a sharpening file! they are cheap. The bottomline: Good product that could be Great. You need to practice! FYI: I am now using an air cannon to throw my weights for accuracy.

This is a really good alternative to a standard chainsaw. You do need two people as this can't be used alone well.Great on branches that are upto a medium thickness in my opinions although I've not tried a large one.Cuts really fast, actually much faster than I assumed.
