Sharing write I did on another brand. Several of these are all made by the same manufacturer with different names on the boxes. Since the first post, I blew an engine and had to find a block and rebuild the engine. Electronic ignition transferred just fine in the rebuild.2015: Just finished installing this kit on my late 60's IH 504. Overall took about 30 minutes to install the kit. You do need end wrenches, screwdriver and electrical cutter, stripper, crimper. As you read on will likely also need timing adjust wrench. Thought about changing to electronic ignition about 1 year ago, but it was cost prohibitive. This looks to be a new kit at the right price. Well worth the money. You will want to be a bit mechanically savvy. The piece that fits on the rotor shaft was a bit tight and I had to shave it with a dremmel tool a little to make it fit. If not seated all the way, the sensor doesn't pick up to trigger a spark. After installing, the timing had to be adjusted. Had to advance the timing about 1/8th turn. Had to adjust it to get the tractor running and adjust again after warmed up. I then had to re-adjust my carburetor both the main jet and the idle port. Once all adjusted correctly, it now runs great. Glad to not have to deal with points and condenser any longer. I would have given a 5 but I didn have to modify a bit, so giving a 4. If you are burning oil like mine, get some spark plug adapters (didn't find any on amazon) and then you can put modern plugs that have multiple probes and ceramic coated electrode to keep them from fouling out. I also bought new plug wires set from Amazon that connect at an angle rather than straight as the spark plug adapters made them stick out further causing the straight plug wires to touch the air filter housing. I expect to not have any further ignition issues going forward.Update: 12/23/2024- I have since now gone through 2 of these units. They seem to last about as long as a set of points (4 years). Points would be cheaper, but this still has much better performance. No adjusting a tiny screw to get the points just right frequently. If these would last longer than about 4 years at a time, it would be great, but I still find worth the cost for the ease of starting and overall better performance. The unit the two times it has stopped working was right at start up. So not sure if alternator exciting at certain RPM's is causing a surge that is damaging it. Wouldn't seem that should be an issue, but what I am thinking is the culprit. I of course had to do a 12v conversion when I first did this which included a 12v alternator in place of the 6 volt generator. Plus a 12v battery and rewiring electrical system. The 12v system is much simpler and it isn't that bad of a conversion. In fact you get to remove many resisters and the lights are all brighter. Still worth it but if you find it fires up one day and then just dies and won't start, know that likely this unit burned out and will need replaced. The first time I spent hours/days trying to figure it out since it couldn't be this...

This part did not work. Tractor would not start. Had to remove it and go back to traditional tune up. Sadly, was too busy to install it right away, so missed the return window

Installed it on a International Harvester 450 and initially it didn't run on all cylinders but I removed the magnetic sleeve and indexed it 180 degrees thinking that my old distributor and other used components were worn and preventing the Dragon Fire Ignition module from working properly, and after I reassembled, it fired and ran on all 4 cylinders! Reasonably priced upgrade and shipping was fast.

I installed this in my 1955 Farmall 300 and it works perfectly! I previously tried a Pertronix unit that burned up nearly instantly. Plus their coil shorted after a couple months. This unit seems more rugged and the tractor is running smooth with no misses.

This worked like a charm on our old IH 444 tractor. It was running a little rough after nigh 60 years of farming. Occasionally it would start to splutter out, need more throttle to not die out, etc.We had replaced the points 5 yrs ago, with little noticeable improvement, and then this month, the tractor had just started really struggling. This upgrade was easy to install and the improvement was immediately apparent. Really, really impressed! Glad I gave it a shot.

I replace my pert..nix with this. It doesn't look the same but it installed just fine. It actually looks like a better design, if i can figure out how to upload photos i will. I put heatshrink on the wires so they dont chafe and I would like the rotor to sit a little lower but it should work fine. I installed it this past weekend, the tractor fired right up.
