Not sure I would give this as a gift as the internal tray is thin plastic. I was hoping for a hard casing, but for the original price of $7.99 my expectation was too high.They sharpen well without chipping, but you should get a different or additional sharpener for the different color charcoals. I prefer one that encases the shavings.The kit has a good selection of hard, medium, and soft pencils/sticks, so this is a good starter or extra pieces kit.

It's a cool set for any drawing artist. It came awhile but it is worth the wait. I recommend this for basic usage.

What a great sketch kit! It includes all you need to draw other than a sketch pad. It’s been a while since I’ve drawn anything, so I thought I’d get back into it. This is the perfect set to get started with.The set offers so many pieces to work with, and all of decent quality. You receive an abundance of graphite pencils and various charcoals. They also include an eraser and sharpener. Considering all that you receive, the price point is quite affordable! Very happy to have this sketch set and would highly recommend it!

Im really impressed with this sketching kit! I havent really gotten into actual sketching with it, but I messed around with the pencils to see if they would be good for future projects. Ive bought cheap sets before which turned out to be no better than drawing with something like a mechanical pencil, and I was worried that this would be the same. I was wrong! These pencils were very smooth to use and easy to blend. Like i said, I just did some scribbles and doodles, but I cant wait to get started on something real with these because its been a while since Ive had a decent set of pencils to sketch with. The only I would suggest is if you dont have a carrying case for your pencils yet, order some. These are kind of a pain to slide in and out of the box and youre definitely going to want something easier to store them in.

This kit contains an assortment of drawing tools - a fine assortment of graphite pencils, erasers, charcoal sticks & pencils, a sharpener & other items. It's priced at approximately $7.00 & is a steal at that price. My two gripes involved the packaging. The tray holding the items was so tightly fit into the box, that I had to tear it to remove the tray. The tray itself is flimsy & unstable; once I removed it, it dumped its contents onto the floor. Fortunately, nothing broke. The packaging needs improvement, even if it means charging a little more. The other solution is to buy a small pencil case & transfer the items so that they'll be less likely to dump.

This is a fantastic drawing set for students and beginners. The price is very good. It carries the needed items to get you supplied for a drawing class or taking it up on your own. The selection of pencils is complete from 4H (hard graphite creating light lines) to 12B (soft graphite creating dark lines). These arrive sharpened so that is an added benefit. The extras are also welcome: blenders, erasers, charcoal sticks, charcoal pencils and a two-stage pencil sharpener. The tray these come in is convenient for keeping all things organized but I cannot use it. I must remove everything out of the tray and into a box. My fingers have a difficult time removing single pencils from their little storage troughs without displacing many others. That may not be a problem for everyone but is it to me. All in all the quality of this set is well worth the price.

This is a great inexpensive sketching set especially for beginners. It contains enough for hours of sketching/drawing fun. I’d say it’s geared more for young or novice artists, but gif the price you can’t beat it.
