High Speed Steel Hand Taps come in three styles: Taper Style: Starts the thread square with the workpiece. Plug Style: Generally used in thru holes. Bottoming tap had decent bottoming thread cutting, if you need it sharper I suggest wet grinding it a thread or two off the tipI used it in an aluminum block so I can’t gauge the hardness yet but it did the job well.
