The stapler works fine and is easy to load. The locking bracket which keeps the handle down for more compact storage can be bumped open pretty easily, though. It's not a big deal and most staplers don't even have one. If I wouldn't be clumsy with it, it wouldn't get bumped open. D'oh! :-DUPDATE: We've had it for three years now and it still works fine.

The staple gun is well made and does what it’s supposed to do really well, unfortunately it only comes with a few staples and it seems the only way to get new is from North America, circa 1 month delivery

I am a bit too weak to use it on my own (someone needs to hold the object with material stretched over it) but this is normal. Went through wood, went through suitcase. Very happy. Once I started using it, I went through 200 provided staples in 3 days over two projects. I am very satisfied with the quality of this gun, I don't have big experience, but it does what I require, when staples came out on the other side in the suitcase, I could easily use scissors to bend them so nobody scratches themselves using this object. I am really satisfied.

For an inexpensive staple gun, this is perfect. Comes with a few staples, but I purchased more separately anyway. Great little gadget. I used it to staple a canvas to the canvas wood.

I don't know why people downrate this staple gun.it's perfect for softer wood and leather, which is what I mainly use it for.you can set the intensity of the shot through an adjustment screw. It seems industrial made, except for the staplerack holder pin in the back, which seemed a bit flimsy, though won't break easily when you're taking care of your stuff...The gun lever tension does feel tight, so it's not made for continuous use (meaning, not all day use, or even for an hour on end, your hands will be tired),but for the fine hobbyist, it's an excellent tool, to do a few staples here or there!

I purchased this item to reupholster a chair. Since there were only two reviews, we decided to give it a chance. In fact, this item is carried by JoAnn Fabrics, which is where we purchased the new material to reupholster the seat cushions.Unfortunately, this stapler did not live up to its name of heavy duty. Perhaps it is because the chair backing is made of high density particle board. Clearly there are staple guns out there that can perform the task, as it had tons of staples used for the original material.I am now going to try a DeWalt Staple Gun (from Home Depot) - and I hope it goes well. Otherwise, the only better option would be to use an air based staple gun.To be fair to this Dritz Heavy Duty Staple Gun, one out of every four attempts to staple came through alright. The rest either did not go through far enough or didn't even penetrate the backing (causing a crushed staple to be partially embedded). Also, I noticed that the quality of the staples that Dritz sells are subpar. Specifically, they seem very brittle, so when I had to remove poorly driven staples, they often would crack at the corners, and I'd have to individually pull out the side stems that were still in the wood. This did not happen for the existing staples (from the manufacturer) that I had to remove before starting the task of upholstering. In summary, this staple gun may work well with regular wood and other lower density materials, however for high density particle board, this Dritz Heavy Duty Staple Gun failed miserably.

This stapler is marked in millimeters (4-8mm tall and 0.7mm in width). The staples that amazon states that are most commonly purchased are .4375 in. and 11.11 mm in width. Without doing the math (converting to and from metric to inches, I purchased this with the extra staples they are to long. I did use the stapler until I ran out of the staples that came with it and it did jam but was not hard to clear the jam. I gave this product a one because after doing all the math it is extremely hard to find staples that will fit. I haven't found the exact size staples that go with it. I am even trying to find a staple gun that the extra staples I purchased will fit.

Because of the price, I had my doubts that this would work, however, it is absolutely great! I used it on my cornices which are attached to a board and it worked perfectly. Used my ordinary Stanley stapler last time and it was a disaster. These staples work perfectly on wood and the stapler is easy to use.
