My kids went crazy when they saw these. It is a really fun idea. Unfortunately, though, it doesn't work quite as well as I had hoped.First things first, these arrived in a plain white box with no instructions on the outside or inside. There's great instructions in the ad though, so just look at the ad if you're like me and need to refresh your memory on how to work it. Once you refresh your memory, it's really easy to assemble. And it fit great on the side of the mixing bowl that I used. I clipped it on, and it felt very secure. So I cracked an egg into the net, which was really fun. But the yolk did not separate from the white very well. You can see in the picture that the thick parts of the white just hung there. I ended up having to shake it a little and use my finger to complete the separation. I wish that the holes were just a touch bigger, because having to shake and use your fingers can result in a broken yolk. And that's exactly what you're trying to avoid when you're separating eggs.In the end, separation did occur. And it was fun. I like that it is dishwasher safe to make clean-up easy. And it's easy to assemble and take apart for storage. If the holes were just a touch bigger, I would be all about this little gadget. But as it stands, it's just ok.

My wife and I agreed that these doodads are really cute. She immediately wanted to grab one to hold her teabag in.I expected them to be pretty convenient, allowing me to separate the whites of eggs straight into the bowl, and I could then dunk the yolks for use elsewhere. But there's a problem: The whites of fresh eggs hold together somewhat. This evening, I tried using these basketball nets to separate eggs for my frittata. Most of the white stayed in the net. No matter how much I jogged the net, the white stubbornly stayed in the net along with the yolk. So, perhaps these things might work ok if you're trying to separate elderly eggs (whites get runnier with age), but I can tell you that they don't work very well with semi-fresh eggs. (Our eggs weren't super fresh -- we had purchased them at Costco around 2 weeks earlier.)
