I use this as step one for sharpening and honing planer and spokeshave blades.I mount this on a 3/4” thick piece of marble and it works perfectly to quickly give me a flat working edge that will then go to my diamond plates to finish the honing process.

Don't care for the peel off backing. If you'll be wet sanding with a solvent like naphtha, the adhesive won't stick to a block for long.

Especially bad or good. In a rare case this 2000 grit sandpaper is a freeking miracle. It wont clog. Never in my years of sanding wood finishes have i used high grit paper that did not clog FAST. WELL, now i have! This stuff just refuses to get clogged. I can sand down a finish glass smooth now without all the clogged sandpaper.

I ordered and used the 1500, 2000 and 3000 grit paper for tuning up a couple hand planes was happy with the results. The backing is more of a plastic than paper which made it a lot easier to peel off the plane body and surfacing plate since it was more resistant to tearing.I’ve tried a number of different brands of paper, including the 600 and 800 grits of this brand, and the adhesive on these rolls have the perfect balance of holding power and release. Most other brands either leave residue/adhesive behind after removing the paper, which is a pain when using a surfacing plate, or the edges start to curl especially with moisture. This stuff stays put and peels up in a breeze. Can’t speak for every application but for flattening/polishing I would highly recommend.

I recently put 4 coats of spar varnish on my wooden canoe and after a week of curing, wanted to get started on removing all the dust nibs and brush strokes. Starting with 1000 grit 3M wet sandpaper, it seemed the 1500 Grit Dura-Gold worked as well and lasted longer before getting clogged with the still soft varnish. After trying a bunch of different sanding block/paper combinations, it seemed the Dura-Gold worked best stuck on a big Dura-Block for the flatter areas like the boat bottom, and for slight curves I used a Holey Terror from Motor Guard. It didn't stick very well to more flexible sanding blocks in tight curves, and eventually water would get under the plastic backing and loosen the adhesive.Still, the Dura-Gold worked great. The surface is smooth and fair, and if I didn't have so much 3M 2000 and 3000 grit, I'd give the Dura-Gold 2000 and 3000 a try before going onto polishing. Next time.

I use these for my micro sander. I cut little squares out of the roll and they stay on even when wet sanding. 2000 grit works perfectly. $28 and I have enough for pretty much forever.

Excellent for getting a mirror finish when polishing. Lasts a long while when wet sanding. Great for shining headlights. Good stuff will buy again.

A great continuous roll of 1500 grit paper, it has suited my requirements by cutting into various sizes to suit my applications. The quality/price is good and proved easy to paste.
