  • Includes one bottle of red or green gauge fluid

Dwyer 1222 series Flex-Tube U-tube type manometer uses red gauge fluid, or mercury or green color concentrate to provide positive, negative, and differential pressure measurement for determining velocity and static pressures, leakage, fan and blower efficiency, filter resistance, and gas pressures. The columns are composed of 1/8" outside diameter flexible and shatterproof clear butyrate tubing for use with colored water, red fluid, or mercury (sold separately). The manometer is calibrated in inH2O or mmH2O using water and is available in W/M-style for use with fluorescein green concentrate or mercury (sold separately), or D-style for use with red gauge fluid. The water column has 1/10" divisions for inch scales or 2mm for metric units. Units are silkscreened in black on a white background to ease reading. The manometer has magnetic clips to mount on vertical surfaces and a clamp bar to prevent slipping. Magnets are removable to customize mounting. The manometer includes a bottle of fluorescein green or red gauge fluid.

Manometers measure the pressure of a liquid or gas. They are used in laboratory, medical equipment, engineering, automotive, and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning applications. Manometers measure any combination of gauge, absolute, or differential pressures. Gauge pressure is the amount of pressure in a system relative to the ambient pressure, absolute pressure is the amount of pressure in a system relative to an absolute vacuum, and differential pressure is the difference between two pressures. Analog manometers are composed of columns of liquid, and they use gravity and the liquid's density to calculate pressure. Because they have no moving parts, analog manometers do not require re-calibration. Digital manometers have pressure sensors that are connected to a system with a hose to provide a digital readout of the amount of pressure present in a system. They use microprocessors to calculate pressure, and they require periodic calibration to help ensure accuracy.

Dwyer Instruments manufactures measurement and control instruments, including pressure gauges, flow meters, level instrumentation, temperature instrumentation, and air quality monitors. The company, founded in 1931, is headquartered in Michigan City, IN.

This is the only tool to have to balance dual carbs on my 1981 BMW R65. It is expensive but quality "life time" tools cost money. Open your wallet and order!

This is a high quality manometer. I've been through 2 other slack tube manometers in the past 10 years. They didn't last as long as I had hoped and didn't have some of the nice features that this Dwyer model has. I really like the red caps for the ends for when it is not being used. I also love the red oil indicator fluid that floats above the water in the tube. Although, it was a little difficult to get an even amount on each side. It slides up and down nicely, and comes with a thumb screw to tighten the tube onto the housing after zeroing it in. All around a super product at a good value. Can't really go wrong with Dwyer these days.

The tube itself is very fine, and there was more than enough red fluid to fill the tube to the "zero" mark (hint, slide the tubes up to get to a reasonable position on the fixed scale (loosen the metal knob at the top to enable the tubes to slide), so that you don't need to use a bunch of the fluid and you can have some spare). My problem is a bit with Amazon (selling returned items without a complete inventory) but even more so with the previous people that stole parts from their returns that I ultimately got. The first one I ordered was obviously open as the plastic package was ripped open, and only one of the red stoppers and one of the red "straw" tubes was included. OK, bad luck, so I ordered a replacement and (fortunately) held on to the first order until the second one arrived. In the meantime I had also called Dwyer to see if they could provide a pair of red stoppers and a pair of red "straw" tubes; they said Amazon bought these from them so I had to go through Amazon for any issues (thus not impressed with Dwyer either). The second one arrived and its plastic bag too was open, and it too was missing one of the red stoppers and one of the red straws and additionally was missing the metal knob part at the top that locks the tubes in place so they don't slide! I called Amazon customer service and explained it all. She was great, told me to keep any parts from the two orders that I needed to make myself a whole kit, and to return the remaining parts including the tube setup. So I did that and now I have a complete kit, but I hope they don't resell the one I sent back. I do recommend this unit, but inventory it and don't order it last minute in case you get a partial shipment.

Seems to work well and easy to use. The amount of fluid provided is a bit sparse, but otherwise a good purchase.

After installing a new furnace, the installation manual stated that one of these tools were needed adjust the fuel control valve. Having never seen one of these, I made my choice based upon the number of Water Column inches I needed; 11 maximum, so this was perfect. I was shocked at how tall the item is, but then again, it is designed to measure the fluid inside the tube, and the gradients are real inch marks.Seems like a well made instrument that I probably only need once in my lifetime, but it was worth the quality, and the money that I saved in calibrating the valve myself. My control valve required 1/4" hose, but this comes with 1/8" barbs. It is easy enough to buy a 1/8" id clear vinyl hose and a ribbed coupler where you can tie in a 1/4" clear vinyl hose.If you can figure out how to use this tool, it is well made and sold at a good price.
