I've made perches for my birds for years by inserting a hanger bolt into a branch. I used to do it using a wingnut and pliers, this bolt driver makes it much quicker and easier.

I had to get a 10-24 tap to repair the threads before I could thread on my hanger bolts. I didn’t want to chance damaging the threads using pliers to load the hanger bolts.

This driver drives the bolts as advertised. However, every bolt I drove had the threads on the last 1/8" or so damaged. I found that putting a nut on the bolt and cinching it tight helped prevent the issue but it does make the process more time-consuming.

This is the only hanger bolt driver I could find in the #10-24 format. That might explain its high price. The downside is that the threads were poorly cut and I couldn't hand-thread a machine screw into it. At the suggestion of another reviewer I took a #10-24 tap and some cutting lubricant to it and that sweetened it up. I did note that the recess was drilled .007" larger than called for to get 75% depth threads, the normal standard. However, after adjustment the device worked as expected.

This tool is impossible to find.. having it delivered the next day helped so much...Pro tip-- make sure to put a washer and nut on your hanger bolt BEFORE using this tool to screw it to the wall... Then hold the nut in place when you go to unthred the tool... Otherwise you will just end up backing your bolt out of the wall.. spray some grafite into the tool helps too..

I have two brands of this tool that work identically, and have the same problem. They drive in the bolt just fine, but then don't want to release the bolt when reversed. A little grease on the bolt helps, but it's still a struggle. Hanger bolts OUGHT to have a nut in the middle, so you can install them with a deep-well socket.Update: Squirt some graphite into the driver before driving each bolt, and everything works fine

Tool not tapped properly. SLOWLY, a little at a time run a 10-24 Cobalt tap into the tool at least 6 to 8 threads. If you break off the tap, the tool is toast. Then use double nuts about 6 threads down on the anchor screw. Works every time. This is not ideal, but it worked for me.At least I was able to get my job done, though it was slow.
