I ended up buying another valve at home Depot that had a larger ball in it which provided a slightly less restricted flow for my gas, but in any event, this is a nice valve which I am keeping as a backup.

not much to say here except to get one that has a UL listed and one that has CSA approval. these have been tested and meet standards for USA and Canada.
