It's a little hard sometimes to get the shell in a perfect shape. Once you use it, there are little pieces of shell to remove manually.

I had never tried one of these and wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered it. When it arrived, I immediately noticed the excellent craftsmanship and how well designed. When I tried to use it, initially I was worried the impact would be too strong and was pleasantly surprised how easy and effective it is in finding the exact point and removing the end of the egg. Brilliant!

I bought this egg cracker out of curiosity since it was inexpensive. The device is most excellent as it is simple and just works.Following the recommendation of several reviewers here, I have had great success by holding the egg in my palm with my finger tips keeping the device in contact with the egg. Pulling the knob up about 20 mm (3/4 in) and letting go produces the crack. Do this twice without moving the device to propagate the crack all around the egg. Carefully remove the device and gently lift the top of the egg. I am able to create a clean cut in the egg shell most of the time this way.

This gadget is a marvel. For years I used a knife to cut off the top of soft boiled eggs. Worked fine most of the time, but jagged and a bit messy. This gadget simplifies the process. Clean cut, quick execution, very easy to clean. Fab.

'Suction power' does not 'apply'. This thing actually 'works' - Plus, it looks good!Here's how I use it on hard-boiled-eggs (one size does Not fit all): put it on the pointy egg end and pull/release at 25%; then pull/release at 75%, twist about 45 degrees, and rock it off. I get the pointy shell, only, in my hand.Then just peel down the sides of the rest of the eggshell - and the egg is ready-to-eat. :)Note: it should be easy to clean; but so far, I've never had to clean it.

It broke my egg cup. Don’t use this if your egg is in an egg cup. It really does not cut the top of the eggshell off vey well. Awkward to use as you need to hold the egg in one hand while trying to lift the handle to allow it to drop onto the egg. Sorry I bought this. I would not recommend.

Since no two egg shells are the same, one cannot expect perfection every time. That said this product is easy to use and performs its intended function very well. I usually drop the "hammer" twice. I like that I don't burn my fingers anymore from holding a hot egg to smash the top with a knife.

I don't know whether I had the wrong shaped eggs or what, but clearly I was too gentle with my first couple of attempts to decapitate my egg, so I pulled the plunger up to it's fullest extent and it totally destroyed the egg and managed to spray it all over the kitchen. Whether this was beginners luck, I don't know as I haven't had the courage to try it again.
