The rocks came and there was no description of the rocks in the box. How am I supposed to know what each rock is.

This may have been a great rock kit, but it did not come with an identification chart as is shown in the group of item pictures, so I had to return it. We needed to use it in a homeschool stem project on weathering.

I'm no expert on sedimentary rocks, but this collection seems lackluster (pardon the pun) in my opinion. For example, 5 of the 12 samples are limestone varieties. Maybe some shale or quartz would've been nice. The box and presentation/foam insert performs well for the usage. Some basic instruction would add value, and a star. I think a simple overview of the rock, and the how, what, where, and ideas for testing would be helpful and make this kit more interactive out of the box. I can see where this would be unnecessary if sold for classroom usage where a geologist is teaching, but would be helpful for home schoolers. There is a picture chart included that identifies the rocks and corresponds with the layout of the grid. I do wonder about my dolostone, because the chart shows it dark colored and my sample is light colored (see my photo).

My only complaint that kept this from a 5-star review is that my rock set came incomplete without an identification guide. I am not a geologist, but I do educate my children, and that is an important component. Without that guide this is really just a box of curated but really common sedimentary rocks. They are sized and packaged as advertised and the product itself was of good quality that met expectations.
