The plus side was the Velcro, the downsize was it wasn't long enough.I would have to use three of these for people with large calves

I am thrilled to have found these bandages with their velcro closures. I was in bed for three days with swelling in my leg from a surgery many years ago that caused damage to the lymph nodes. I've been working on a project that has kept me sedentary at the computer and the swelling built up badly. After day 3 in bed the swelling went down, but I knew it would only be temporary. The bandages arrived in the morning and I put them on my leg (the 4" one on the lower part above the ankle, wrapping gradually higher toward the knee; the 6" bandage above that increasingly almost meeting the knee. I was able to have a good day -- walking, sitting, standing and finally, sleeping comfortably. I am wrapping again today to keep up the progress and will take it from there, using the bandages as they are needed. I am fully enjoying coming back to comfort and normal activity! UPDATED 4/28/20: There has been no shredding, no wear and tear on these bandages at all. I have used them at least a dozen times, possibly more, and they still look and feel brand new! They have helped me immensely with my energy and mobility. Now I am down to using only the 6" bandage for 1/2 a day. This is great because I can wear the one bandage alone under slim pants, and all fits comfortably.

Update below* I have waited a couple of weeks before writing this review to really be able to give it a thorough testing. I purchased this since I liked the idea of having 2 different size widths to try. The overall quality and performance is equal to the much more $$ ones my doctor has been ordering for me. The elastic in them holds up well and gives a solid compression. *Update* Okay after 6 plus months of use. To clean them after use, since my leg wound drains into the wrap. In the washer I use one of those perforated bags women use to wash delicate fabrics and items in so that they don't get stretched. In warm water, medium level with 2 capfulls of bleach, and a good detergent set for a 20 minute pre-soak. Then permanent press. (YMMV) My wraps have still been usable, although I am scheduling them for replacement. They are finally loosing their stretch on the ends.*
