Electro-Harmonix has released a low noise, low microphonic version of the 12AX7 that meets all specifications required for the tube to be designated 7025. The original 7025 tube was a 12AX7 that was tested and selected for the lowest noise and microphonics for use in the critical first preamp stages of amplifiers where noise and microphonics could be an issue. In order to ensure that the 7025 specification is consistently met, Electro-Harmonix has redesigned the structure of the 12AX7 and has implemented construction techniques to ensure the absolute lowest noise and microphonics possible. In all samples tested, noise and microphonics could not be detected. The Electro-Harmonix 7025EH has a mid-range that gives clarity and definition to the sound and a smooth top end for warmth and balance. With these characteristics, along with the exceptionally low noise and low microphonics, the Electro-Harmonix 7025EH will work equally well in vintage and modern high-gain guitar amplifiers, as well as sensitive phono preamps.

I have a T C Electronic Tube Drive with a 12ax7 that is a phenomenal product on its own. Having read about the many, as in plethora of, variants and sub-outs, I chose the 7025. The stock tube is great but the Electro Harmonix has a depth of clarity and harmonic chime that is a bit better in my evaluation. Many decades ago I trained as a radio tech for the USAF and our avionics relied heavily on vacuum tubes. I know them well. This 7025 is everything I want or need for my guitar odyssey. My old 1980 Peavey Backstage Plus never sounded this good.

I took a chance on these based on the positive reviews and I was very pleasantly surprised. Many old Fenders call for 7025s and nobody else is making them today. Leo Fender was a notorious cheapskate so the fact that he used expensive 7025s in certain positions was not an accident. There was a NOTICEABLE drop in the noise floor of my Pro Reverb switching to these 7025s from perfectly good NOS 12AX7s. I am impressed. I would recommend these to anyone for any amp that calls for a 7025, or where you are hearing a lot of noise with ordinary 12AX7s.

Replaced a 12AX7A with this in my Eden WT-800 Bass Head and the new sonic parameter is silky luscious. Tiny loss in gain function but worth the tradeoff and certainly manageable...Electro Harmonix has done justice to a classic.

I found no reduction in noise by placing this tube in position V1 in any of my tube amps. A waste of time and money IMO.

I bought 6 of theses to replace the ageing Telfukens in my Fisher KX-100b. I know that sounds crazy but necessary. At first these tubes sounded bad but sound quality improved with every hour of use. Now after less than 30 hours of run time they are amazing. These tubes are very close to dead quiet. Almost no hum detected in the speakers .

I'm using this in a '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue in V2, the low noise claims are absolutely accurate as the vibrato channel is almost dead silent all the way up to about 6 on the volume. Tone is very nice as well, it seems balanced and not much of a change from the NOS RCA 12AX7 I was using in that position. Almost tempted to get another one for V4 and see how quiet I can make the amp. I'll definitely keep these in mind anytime I need a nice tube.

When I moved my Fender Bassman across the county it sustained a broken preamp tube. I replaced it with this Electro-Harmonix. It is not as quiet as the original RCA 7025, but it's pretty close. If the 7025 in the other channel goes, I won't hesitate to replace it with this.
