screen door on patio was not aligning correctly at the door catch. You push on the door a little and the catch bar would release. these shims are designed to fit between door frame and metal bracket that holds the vertical bar that the door lock catches onto. the shims push the vertical bar out away from the door frame and further behind the door lock to increase the 'hold' of the vertical bar on the door lock catch.instead of removing the entire door frame assembly (2 screws), i just loosen the assembly (back off the screws), cut off the ends of the openings (that the screws fit thru) and slide the shim behind the catch mechanism and then tighten the screws. this way youu do not have to remove the assembly from the door frame.
