These are not super thin but not thick either. They are a nice medium thickness. They support, but not too much weight.The base is only 3.5” long instead of the normal 5+ inches, so a couple heavy books will tip this bookend over. I used black duct tape to tape the base to the wood shelf and it’s quite sturdy for my thick paperbacks and smaller hardbacks.They are a great value for the money, especially if you’re able to fasten the base to your shelf (you’re not using glass shelves). Highly recommend for paperbacks, and for hardbacks that are not over 9” tall or more than 1.5” thick.

Overall, nice bookends. They look great and work well. You just have to be careful because the metal is thin and will bend easily, particularly around the leaves of the trees.

HI had to move to a smaller apartment and needed them for a black frame bookcase with wooden shelves. They are so pretty I left one facing out so the tree can be seen. Very pleased with their sturdiness and would recommend them to anyone who has books of all sizes.
