I cant have enough EPAuto tools and accessories. Lately they have been my go to when slowly stocking my garage. Everything from valves, to torque wrenches. I always wish I had more and more of their stuff!

These work well but probably wont take the abuse that you might think they should. I have both the open flow versions i use on my tire machine and the closed flow ones i use as air chucks. I'm an off-road guy and frequently need to air up large tires. These work well for that task you can hook up a few tires at a time to safe time. They seem to stay attached well and don't leak on most valve stems.

I change my own tires at home using a manual tire changer. One of the most challenging parts is getting the bead of a new tire to seat on the rim. Unless you have something like an air blast tank, the beads usually droop away from the wheel rim. The result is that you can't inflate the tire because the beads aren't sealing.This is where I advise you NOT to do what I do. I grab a can of ether (starting fluid), spray some inside the mounted tire, and then light it on fire. The ether combusts immediately, causing a large pressure wave that seats the beads. The trouble is that the pressure soon drops and the bead can suck itself back off the rim, at which point you're back to where you started.Unless, of course, you've clipped a locking air chuck onto the valve stem. The incoming air prevents the tire bead from falling off.Yes, seating a tire bead with ether is dangerous. I don't suggest you do it, and all the usual disclaimers about the associated dangers of fire and compressed air apply.For the less adventurous among you, this chuck is nice to have if you want to inflate a questionable tire, like one that has cracks in the sidewall. A blowout up close can be very dangerous, so you clip the chuck to the valve stem, walk far away, and turn the air on from a safe distance. If the tire explodes and rips the quarter panel off the car, at least you're far enough away to keep from getting hurt. We don't normally think about the damage a tire can do, but there's a TON of stored energy in there from all the compressed air.I usually don't use this tire chuck. It's more convenient to use the inflator I have with a built in gauge. However, when I'm dealing with a questionable tire or I have to seat one that I just mounted, I'm glad I have it.

Despite the description and the packaging stating that this item has 1/4" Female NPT , this is NOT female PIPE THREAD! In fact, this is female PIPE STRAIGHT THREAD. Such thread requires the use of a SEALING WASHER as depicted in the photos on the product page, as NPT fittings will not seat against the sealing washer. The attached pic shows (in white) the sealing washer. On the locking chucks I received that seal is black but the color of the seal makes no difference.That being said, these chucks can be made to work but most people will not want to have to modify purchased items in order for them to work correctly.I happen to have two 1/4" NPT taps on hand. I took the older one and ground off the end of the tap, removing the first 6-7 threads rounding the tip to not gouge the bottom of the chuck threaded end. Remove the sealing washer, use the tap to taper the threads in the chuck by running the tap as far as you can go into the chuck (do not apply excessive force, just run the tap down until it bottoms out), remove the tap, clean the chuck, use teflon tape (worked better than pipe dope)on the male fitting and have at it.Other than this the chuck appears to be made well. The locking mechanism works very well and seals just fine against the valve stem.

Just used it this weekend to air up the Jeep after some off road fun. I'm a fan. Previously I had a nice air chuck/gauge, but trigger activated, so I had to squat next to each tire for about 1.5 minutes to air up. With this, I just pop it on and can stand up and walk around. Much nicer at my age. As an added bonus, my Jeep has an electronic tire pressure monitoring system, so I can stand outside the drivers door and watch the pressure get to where it needs to be, then head over to that tire and move the chuck to the next tire. Very nice. I got the closed flow, so it doesn't flow when detached from the tire. I go wheeling every weekend, so this will get lots of use, but seems like a quality product that should last. Since it was a 2-pack, I have a spare in my toolbox in case one does wear out.
