Your cart is empty. Works on the same principle as a thermos bottle. The water within the 5 gallon removable bucket is insulated on all sides, including the drinking surface. Therefore, after filling the bucket with ground temperature water (approximately 50ºF year round), the insulation retains the inherent heat for several hours (time depends on outside temperature, initial water temperature, and the volume of water within the bucket). Generally, during a 0º outside temperature day minor freezing occur after 6-12 hours, which provides adequate time for your horse to drink between watering schedules.
The horse simply pushes the surface float down to drink. The float follows the surface, maintaining good insulation until all water is gone. Lets you know how much water your horse is taking during high stress periods.

Works as described in description and if you follow the instructions included with bucketsit works perfectly and horses have thawed water while in barn over night for 12 hours and I even came back to purchase a 3rd one.

We have 2 types of shelter for our horse, a regular stall and a 3 sided shelter, she prefers her 3 sided run-in shelter . She’s always been an “outdoor” horse so it works for her , the problem has been access to water that doesn’t freeze out there by the time morning comes. I received this Thermo water bucket yesterday and filled it up, she had issues pushing the the ‘floater’ insulator down to get water so I pulled it out . A bit disappointed, I figured I would be met with a bucket of frozen water this morning, especially when the temperature read 0 degrees!!!! To my surprise there were a few ice cubes floating but it was nowhere near being frozen !!! I added a bit of warm water to it and we were good to go!! If you are not using the styrofoam floater I wouldn’t fill past the insulated level of the bucket as someone else mentioned during extra cold weather, it worked great for me and I am so so happy ! And so is Visco !
