The wires sound awful. You can’t get enough tension in them. Once you do, they’re choked!Mine also came without the strings which is annoying. I had to source some myself, despite the fact they’re supposed to come with the wires. I can’t honestly recommend this product. It has nothing to do with the snare bed, or any other factor. They’re just not very good.

First off, I have to say that I am extremely impressed with the quality of this snare wire. The PURESOUND Twisted Series is absolutely top-notch in every way. The construction is solid and durable, with 20 double strands that provide a crisp and articulate sound that really brings out the best in my snare drum.Installing the snare wire was a breeze thanks to the easy-to-follow instructions included with the product. Once I had it installed and adjusted to my liking, I was immediately blown away by how much better my snare sounded. The clarity and sensitivity of the wire is truly exceptional, and it really helps my snare drum cut through the mix in any musical setting.I also appreciate the attention to detail that went into the design of this snare wire. The twisted strands provide a unique look that sets it apart from other snare wires on the market, and it gives my snare drum a touch of personality that I really love.Overall, I can't recommend the PURESOUND Twisted Series Snare Wire enough. Very interesting sound (especially at a loose, wet setting) but I found myself desiring the brighter and more open sound from the original Ludwig snares they replaced on my Black Beauty snare drum. If you’re looking for a slight amount of focus and a darker sound definitely try them out. They still sound great but I don’t think I would purchase again since I like big open snare sounds.

Ordered these and know I like them as I have them on a snare already. When I received the package it was the correct packaging with what look like blasters inside. I thought it was a fluke so I returned and requested a replacement. New ones were same thing so will be returning for a refund.

I had been looking for something different for my 14” x 5.5” maple snare, and I just so happened to get a gig where I felt an orchestral snare sound would be a great option to have as a side snare. These snares more than delivered! But beyond that, I really love the dry, crisp sound. It’s a great contrast to my main snare (14” x 6.5” supraphonic with PureSound Super 30s), and if you put a Big Fat Snare Drum on it, forget it! Great product, I love everything PureSound puts out.

I had basic factory wires on my snare, and they were too snappy and not pleasant for the ear. Theese have a beautiful dry sound, great, very sensitive response, and they arend too loud. Great job PureSound!

This is my snare set up; I'm using a Steel SensiTone snare drum w/chrome finish with this Evans Hybrid Coated Snare Batter Drum Head 14 Inch. For my bottom head I'm using a Ludwig C1114 Weather Master 14-Inch Clear X-Thin Bottom Snare Side Resonant Drumhead. I went with these PureSound Twisted Series Snare Wire, 20 Double Strand 14 Inch, and theMonster Percussion Superior Snare Straps - color; Midnight. I've tuned it a bit high and I'm getting next to NO overtone. The sound I'm getting is crisp and bright - good attack and good balance and seriously no overtone. I'm very picky when it comes to my drum sounds and go through length to personalize my set up to find the right sound combination for my kit and I'm very satisfied with these.

I've tried other brands of snare in over 45 years of drummming but since finding puresound I would not use anything else on any of my snaredrums. There are cheaper but in my view there is'nt better.

I have a Mapex Hammered Stainless steel snare with cast hoops, and I needed new snare wires. I got these, because I've had really good luck with PureSound on my other snares. These were a bit of an experiment for me, but between a combination of Hazy 500 snare side/reso head and an Evans Heavyweight batter.... my snare sounds incredible. I have no clue which of these three components is the biggest contributor to the sound, but DANG! I love it.

It's surprising to me that this snare wire produces no snare buzz at all, 40 wires twisted together to 20 and no buzz, that's just amazing, the articulation, dryness and sensitivity just blew me away. I'm loving it.

Upgraded to these over the stock DW/PDP 20 strand wires. Really "dried" up the sound of my snare. I did get a little snare buzz at first, but I tightened the snare side head from 80 to 85, and it went away. You really get a nice tone with these wires, too. I also replaced the Remo Hazy Ambassador head with a Hazy Emperor, and it really brought the wires to life...perfect combo. I'm using a coated Powerstroke 3 over a Hazy Emperor, Puresound Twisted wires, on a 6.5x14" maple snare, drum dial 85 top and bottom...awesome combo. The strings that come with these wires suck though...get some Grosgrain Ribbon 5/8" instead.

I bought this as a replacement for my 10 year old Puresound 'Blaster' snares - which were fine - but I wanted something a bit 'fatter', a bit 'thicker' and altogether more funky for my Ludwig 400.This set of snares does that in bucket-loads. Wow! I couldn't believe the change. Superb.
