My son really wanted this for when he played ball. He plays at a high level and has a lot of games facing good pitching. In our opinion, he mostly wants this for the "drip factor" of them, which means this is cool enough that other kids won't think it is goofy. So at least your kid won't get teased. But besides that, it does offer great protection from fouling a ball off of or taking a pitch to your lower leg.Evoshield has a good reputation and these things are tough and will stand up. He uses his in the cage just so he can repeat the feel of it for games and it still looks new, albeit a bit more dirty.The price may be expensive, but seems like the quality is good enough that it'll outlast the cheaper ones. And, of course, he'll look cooler.

My son needed a guard for his foot/ankle. He has a tendency for ingrown toenails and this protects his foot especially during game times. I take kid guard to hitting lessons as he learned the hard way he needs to wear it anytime at bat!! The quality is definitely worth the money to purchase the guard. The guard is specially molded to your ankle so it’s the perfect fit!

After a nasty foul ball of the shin, I purchased this and have used ever since. Setting up and molding to your leg is very easy. Its comfortable to wear and solid once the mold sets. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a lightweight but solid protection for your leg and foot.

I didn’t like that there was no information on the box of warnings on not opening the package with detailed instructions in how to use this product. My son opened it when the package arrived and I was not home. By the time I got home the shield had hardened already. He did not see any label on not opening it without reading instructions. I looked for instructions and could not find it either. Go to the website and Watch the videos on how to use this product. You have to immediately put it on and secure with ace bandage for at least 30 mins. It hardens quickly! I found a youtube video on how to reshape an evoshield, the guy showed reshaping a thumb guard. We followed his instructions and thankfully salvaged the leg and elbow shield. It is not perfect and it was not comfortable on my son. The water was hot (at a 180 degrees F) I squeezed as much water out as I could but it still soaked through his clothing and shoe and gave him a burn. You don’t want to do that! Advise is to know that the products starts to harden as soon as the foil package is opened and the air gets to it. The product works great just would be a better fit if we did it right the first time.
