It's a sturdy leg and it has a lot of detail you don't find in other body parts. It's put together well and looks like it will last a long time.

Most of my friends are, like me, getting older, and they are experiencing the expected problems and conditions which come with advancing age. Top of the list are joint, bone, and muscle injuries, and as a retired doctor, I am often asked about such things. Thanks to this wonderful model of the lower leg, I can now demonstrate and explain these issues using a "hands on" approach in three dimensions, which has seemed much more effective than either talking or drawing a picture. I would imagine that this model would also be an effective teaching tool in a health sciences class, or with patients in a medical office or clinic, based on the enthusiastic response I've seen from my friends. Affordably priced, sturdy yet flexible construction, and appropriate detail: consider getting one of these for yourself.

Well, I have several anatomical models at different price points and so far they have lived up to their price tags. This one however was not a winner. The plastic(?) bones were poorly molded and not well finished. You can see tool marks and other unfinished marks in it. It is also painted a bright shiny white color, not the typical soft matte ivory color you would expect to see. The connectors are bulky and not disguised. It is probably good enough for a beginning anatomy student, but not up the pre-med or medical school standards. I suspect mine was just rushed through assembly. Your satisfaction may vary.

This is such a cool piece! It fits perfectly with the oddities-style decor in my home and has also been a fantastic resource for my son to learn about bones, the human skeleton, and anatomy. Beyond being educational, it’s a quirky and unique home decor item that adds a lot of personality to the space. Overall, I absolutely love it!

This is a very well-made, accurate model of the bones of the lower limb and partial pelvis. This is NOT a Halloween prop. There is excellent detail of the bony landmarks, tuberosities, origins and insertions. The patella is included. Note that this model is not self-supporting/standing. The bones, from the wing of the ilium all the way to the most distal phalanges, are securely but flexibly bound together, allowing the joints to be moved. The material is a stark white and is moderately heavy. This would be an excellent teaching model. I particularly like that it can be held and handled by students, which helps in understanding not only of anatomy but of movement and pathology as well. Very nice. I received this through the Amazon Vine program.

When you take this out of the box, it's really obvious that this skeleton model was cast from the real thing. You can see all of the fossa on the surface of the bones and there are beautiful little irregularities on the head of the femur and the illiac crest that really make it look legit. The scale of the leg is just a little smaller than true life size. I stand at about 5'6", and the leg model is about 4-5 inches shorter than my leg when you line them up.Technically, it does resemble an adult's leg, but the scale is just slightly smaller than average. The foot size is comparatively smaller as well. Each of the tarsals and phalanges of the foot are strung through with wire and plastic rods, so you can move the foot around a very limited range. Just a small bend in each toe.The leg itself is actually quite heavy, as the femur, tibia, and fibular are strung through with metal bars. There's a T-section crossover behind the patella where the upper and lower leg connect which allows it to bend at the knee. The head of the femur has a section of elastic bungee cord that comes through the top and connects it to half of the pelvis, with a drawstring button. You can tighten or loosen this cord to straighten the leg a bit more, like a ball-jointed doll. Now in practice, you *can* articulate the leg quite a bit, but there's no mechanism or latch to lock the model into place. It can't stand up on its own.If you've got some sort of stand, or a wall-mounted hook where you can string the leg up, that may be useful, but this model leg will topple to the floor if left unattended. That said, I do this this a great tool for study, especially if you're in Medical or Arts-related professions. There's a high level of detail and attention to craft in this model that simply can't be replicated by looking at a static image in a textbook. However, be aware that this product may make you lean toward buying the entire skeleton overall.I personally began to want to invest in getting the full model skeleton after using this product.4 stars!
