This works great. It didn't really work the way I hoped on my application, but that has to do with what I was trying to control. In addition to the contact, it needed a separate start switch circuit to actually make my application start automatically

I am not an electrician and this review should not be considered as advice regarding electrical matters. You either understand the risks of doing your own electrical work or you should seek professional help - of any kind, however electrical professionals preferred!I needed this Definite Purpose Contactor because I wanted to switch a high current line with a lesser capable switch. My guess is these are used in large appliances and HVAC systems, but if you have a similar need this kind of part is what you want. Of course, make sure it can handle the loads you are looking to switch. In my case it was a 240v 30amp line which is not easy to find a variety of compact switches for.This is a solid product. The packaging is on par with most contractor packaging. The enclosed wiring diagram requires some basic electronics knowledge, and is clearly targeted at a professional that won't bother looking at it. Wiring was not difficult and I am not a professional. If you have a need to control a high currents, your switch options are limited and this does the trick. It is not small however, so make sure you consider this in your application. I needed it to reside in an existing enclosure and so mounting options were limited, however I was able to secure it adequately.

Using this contactor on a 5000w 240v electric heater in garage. Allows a low voltage thermostat to turn on/off heater. Been working well for a few months now. Nice large lug terminals for easy install.
