I bought a hardshell safety cap to add a solid layer to this otherwise very thick cap. It's very padded but them balls fly hard. Its gonna be a lil uncomfortable when it gets to the high 80's.

Its not as thick as I thought. very thin actually. A regular cotton winter beanie would be just as good. But Ive had a few bounces so I guess it works. If using marble like paint, it still hurts!

I have a large head 7 3/8 to be exact. the XL fits a bit snug but it does fit. and it works, it absorbs the impact, i still get a small welt but it stops the ball for breaking the skin and leaving a bloody bruse. The hat has faded over several washings, but it is durable and the stitching is holding up. A far a heat ... the human body runs at 98.6 degrees F. 80% of your excess heat is vented/escapes through your head. if you cover your head with a padded hat. your body will heat up and start to sweat more. Protection comes at a price.

This hat is a huge help when it comes to playing Paintball ! It does exalty what it's designed to assist with bouncing paint off your head if they come at you at a bit of an angle, Which keeps you in the game. Plus how padded this hat is, half the time I cant feel the impact of paintballs. So if it doesn't bounce the paintballs off it'll absorb most of the impact which hurts a ton if you are shot in the top of your head . It's a bit different to wear due to the design of the hat campared to a regular hat but this is a much needed investment for Paintball ! You will not regret it ! I highly recommend to all players.

fits great, had some balls bounce, so that is a plus. definitely have not had any welts on my head lately....witch was an issue at the last family photos...lol
