I am a piano tuner and this is the device we use to measure humidity in the home at every appointment. After trying many different hygrometers of various quality we have found this hygrometer to be the most reliable and sensitive. Now we've been using it with our team of over a dozen technicians for the last year.

Ok, lets start by saying any meter like this under $100 w/o a calibration certificate is a "cheap" meter. That said, this one is ok. Temp readings seem to be fairly accurate. Cannot test the RH just yet, need to get a salt RH tester to see. Like other reviewers have mentioned, directions are a bit chinglish for my liking, but after playing around with it you get the hang of it, etc.

I live in Houston, which was severely affected by Hurricane Harvey. While the hurricane is long gone, many structures were soaked and some even remain damaged. This becomes a problem when you are looking at buying a surprising amount of things. Like houses, renting offices, and used cars. Knowing how damp the air is in an area is can be an indicator that there was some trouble in the past. I'm not talking about the main living spaces, I'm talking about the back rooms, closets, sheds, crawl spaces, the trunk of a car, and other places which should be dry and don't get much airflow. You can't get into walls and look for mold or mildew but moisture can be an indicator. You would of course need to establish a baseline for comparison by getting readings from surrounding areas that are "known ok".While this unit by no means provides a "go/no go" answer toward renting a space or I find it to be very useful for establishing "peace of mind" by telling me the moisture content in the air of a given area.I found the unit easy to understand and operate, and I have a lot more peace of mind having used it.

My first psychrometer and with a manual I can easily understand! I am a new user and am writing this review from a novice's perspective.I store a lot of food and textiles. Humidity is an issue and I thought this device might be a good tool, at the least to be a bit more accurate in how and where I store these items. Temperature, humidity, dew point, and a wide and very granular reading plus minute and fast changes provide what appear to be extremely accurate readings with a digital LCD that is absolutely clear. Nickel plating on wires ensure longer life and the unit's housing is a durable hard plastic. The buttons work with a firm touch and sensible layout. Great, simple design.I know that I haven't exhausted the RHT510's capabilities as I don't need them all but for my purposes, this psychrometer/thermometer has added far more accuracy to my storage design, i.e. whether to use unheated but indoor storage, testing my refrigerator and freezer, dry storage, outdoor, closets with textile materials (to prevent moths, etc.).

Sturdy, easy to use, and accurate. This is a review of the Hygro-Thermometer Psychrometer. This is a handy device for both professionals and general consumers looking for fast and accurate readings. Humidity values update within seconds. It also has an external probe, a type K thermocouple. Type K are a common sensor calibration type. This is made of 2 wires that have a much wider temperature range than you might imagine, with a small thermocouple on the end that looks like a ball of solder. Type K thermocouples generally work in many applications since they are nickel-based, have good resistance to corrosion, and a wide temperature range. The Type K is inherently not quite as accurate, but it has a huge operating temperature range.

I'm a prepper so we store a lot of food and such. Shelf life is obviously key, but our storage area is in the basement, which can be difficult to keep in the ideal storage conditions. I was very excited to see this come through Vine, thinking it would be a big help there. It's really easy to use and read, with one exception - the mode indicators are tiny. Maybe I just have old eyes, but neither of us could read it. We just cycled through the functions and learned the placement positions we wanted. That's not a big deal, since memorizing position is pretty easy, once you figure them out, but maybe I'm overly picky, I just don't expect to have to do that, especially since the screen itself is quite large, so yeah, I'm taking a star off because of it.Having whined about that, I also advise you to ignore it and try this thing. It really is quite useful.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - many things you buy every day will generate a small donation to the charity of your choice.
