Firstly, it is not assembled. It has screw type metal peices in the solid wood portion where the handles are. You have to screw each peice in to assemble. When you tighten the screws to keep it steady, some of them pop out of the base and now nothing is there for you to keep it together. No, glue won't help. Also, the predrilled/recessed hole on the slat peices break through when you try to tighten them. Again, useless. I had to drill my own holes and put my own screws in to hold this box sturdy enough for use. The mfg said if I contated amazon, they would send a replacement. Why would I want a replacement and get the exact same issue? I declined.

I originally purchased this crate for storing vinyl records. If you plan to use it for the same purpose, be aware that while the records themselves fit, they won’t if you keep them in protective plastic sleeves. The dimensions are about 5mm too small for that.While this crate is cheaper than many alternatives, the compromises in quality make it a poor choice. The wood is incredibly soft—so soft you can gouge it with your fingernail. The screws are countersunk, which looks nice, but this design leaves only 1–2mm of weak wood holding the crate together. Even when carefully hand-screwing the pieces, I could hear the wood cracking. When I finally picked it up, the insert came loose, rendering the crate completely unusable.Do yourself a favor and invest in something more durable. Spending a bit more upfront will save you from replacing this again and again, which will ultimately cost more in the long run.

You have to put this one together, so keep that in mind. This one is a great size, and putting it together actually makes it sturdier than others I have.
