This is a revised version with metal sleeved holes where the diagonal bolts go through, apparently to keep the gasket from being crushed by overtightened diagonal bolts which causes further internal and external intake manifold coolant leaks. I experienced repeated leaks within a year's time on previous gasket replacements. Even though I initially torqued all the bolts to spec. I noticed the diagonal bolts loosening up over time. Repeated re-tightening of the diagonal bolts "by eye" had caused previous gaskets to fail. This time I de-greased the threaded holes and the bolt threads before applying (blue) thread-locker to all the intake bolts. It's been over three years on one car and over a year on another that there is no sign of intake manifold leaks. One good indicator of an intact intake manifold gaskets is the lack of a brown scum ring in the coolant overflow tank. On one occasion I used a no-name intake gasket set because of the low price. After about four months I had a coolant leak much worse than the original factory gaskets that lasted more than ten years. This is the gasket set to go with on the GM 3.1L engine.
