I dont know why Amazon it having me rate this for it's "sheerness, thickness, and Warmth", but, for what it is - a Z-Wave door sensor, it works fine, although full disclosure - I'm not even using the door sensor part of this device. I searched out the OLD version of this sensor specifically because this version has the 3 pin header to let me connect an external thermometer.. I connected it to a waterproof thermometer I bought separately and put the device itself in a small waterproof box, connected to some PVC pipe in the shape of an upside-down "U" and hung it over my pool wall. Now I have my pool temperature reported in Vera by ZWave. It works great. Someday I might hook up a physical switch to the other input (to be used instead of the magnetic contacts) and use it to trigger a scene, such as toggling music or something outside, but for now, it's reporting the pool water temperature just fine!

I had to return all the units in my second order of these sensors as they would not register in the Z-Wave network. They are also extremely difficult to set back to their factory defaults and have a funky battery size.I wound up getting an Eco Link and it is a night and day difference over these sensors. To include in the network, pull the battery protect tab. To un-register, remove, then replace the battery...simple. So far I've purchased 3 of these nice little sensors. They are very small, but work very well so far. I purchase them mainly for the temperature capabilities. I've equipped all three with the DS18B20 sensors; two with just the tiny sensor, and one with the sensor on a 1m cord. I tested all three against a calibrated thermocouple, and they are surprisingly accurate. All had a variation of less than 1 deg. F. I don't know of any way to calibrate the temperature on these sensors, but given the accuracy off the shelf, I see no need. The setup in my Veralite was a little tricky to get the temperature to display, but I managed to figure it out after some creative Googling. One small issue I've encountered is with the battery. Despite the description on Amazon that says it takes the common CR123A battery, it most certainly does NOT. It actually takes a somewhat difficult to find 1/2AA battery. Don't expect to find these batteries at Home Depot or Walmart. I ended up getting them at Amazon, of course. I have experienced an issue with one of the sensors, which is causing it to drain batteries rather quickly. I recently contacted Fibaro support to explore a remedy. We'll see how well they support their product. Overall however, I would(and will) buy these again. Of course that all depends on whether another one of these sensors has issues, and whether Fibaro will stand behind them.Update 8/9/16 I was able to reach Fibaro support, and they asked that I send the sensor in for evaluation/repair. A bit odd, considering the cost of these sensors, that they would opt to spend the time & money to evaluate the sensor, but anyway.... So I sent it in(at my expense) & it was returned to me a short time later after they said they were able to reset the sensor and hopefully solved the issue. I've reinstalled it in its temperature sensing role & will see if the battery issue is indeed remedied. Its been a few weeks now & so far, so good. I'll update again if the problem resurfaces.Update 11/16/16 So far the "repaired" sensor is working flawlessly & the battery isn't discharging at an abnormal rate. I've since purchased 3 more of these sensors for temperature sensing roles, and they're working great as well. All report very accurate temperatures, when tested against a calibrated thermocouple. Bumping my rating up to 5 stars.

Not very easy to include, but with enough mashing of the single button, it eventually includes. Forget the "push rapidly three times" thing you'll read in the manual. Exclude? Hah. That's more like a mix of Rub Goldberg and Maxwell Smart. The exterior housing is an absolute joke and after opening it twice required glue or tape to keep it shut. The range is not what I'm used to with Aeon Labs, Ecolink, or Everspring. I also have a Fibaro motion detector which I am a bit more satisfied with, but my overall impression with this company is that they're attempting to be like Apple - form comes before function and charge way way too much so that people will feel like they must have bought the best. Behind the charade however is nothing but cheap, poorly made, mediocre performing stuff that looks pretty nice.What I do give them props for is their documentation. I could only wish that other Z-Wave vendors so fully documented their products. Another positive is the ability to extend functionality with adding external sensors. I did not test this however, so I don't know how well it does or does not work. Given the absurd (can't think of any other way to put it) price, the lack of performance, and the Cracker Jack prize level of construction, I would look to something else.

They did an excellent job designing this.I would say this is the best Z-Wave external door/window sensor to date, if you do not mind paying more.It is very small and fits just about anywhere. It looks nice and clean.Its LED is inside and shows through the cover without being obvious.External temperature sensor or switch can be connected easily.There are many Z-Wave parameters, including off-delay up to 65535 seconds, NC/NO/monostable/bistable, LED on/off, etc.It uses one 1/2AA battery.
