Added a pair of AA batteries and we were off locating faults with this metal body tester. Tolerances are tight and adapters secure well. The red LED is bright, more than enough to push through nearly 3000 feet of OM4 via LC connector. A good selection of adapters is included along with a somewhat thick storage case that will keep everything well protected. Both constant and flashing light source is available at the slide of the power switch, with OFF in the middle position. However, the slide button requires holding down to keep the light source on, a negative when working alone over long distance runs. Overall, a good kit for the cost.

It comes with a nice, robust case and several different connectors. I really like this item!

This is a complete kit with everything I need for the types of connectors I test on a daily basis. I install fiber in large buildings such as retail and hotels. This is useful to find bends and breaks in exposed fiber, however most of the fiber I install is either armored or inside conduits, so that's not as useful as you would think. What I use it for is to verify and identify individual strands from one end to the other. I have found termination issues where strands were swapped, TX/RX or connected to the entirely wrong port. This is a useful tool if you install or troubleshoot fiber.

This is a nice VFL kit to locate your fiber or find a break in your fiber. It comes in a semi-ridged case and comes with plenty of connectors/adaptors to get the job done. The VFL has the standard two modes (solid/flashing). The one thing that you will have to provide is batteries. It takes 2 AA batteries. Overall, this VFL has helped me a lot at my job as a network engineer.

I picked this up to use for network trouble-shooting. It ships in a nice little zip case with enough room to stock a series of jumpers and connectors to have them with me at all times. It ships with batteries (nice touch). It's not an amazingly impressive kit. But it is functional and useful. Great for someone who only occasionally works with fiber.

Nothing to dislike, the tool worked perfectly and aided in quick identification of remote fibre connections. A must for any cabler, network engineer or electrician that deals with fibre on a regular basis.

I wanted something more powerful when trying to trace out spares that are already ran in a data center setting and this definitely does the job. My only gripe is when connecting to to an SC connector you have to remove the dust cap on both sides of the connector for it to seat. I’m probably going to modify the head with a Dremel so I don’t have to do this.

This is a decent set, but do have a couple issues with the VFL unit itself. The casing can be very finicky after replacing the batteries; make sure it's screwed in all the way tight or you might not get any power. Also, my power meter sees it as 3 dB **dimmer** than its own built-in VFL, which is supposed to be 30mW. Not sure what's going on there as it does seem at least as bright visually if I shine them both on the wall 🤷That aside, this does come with some nice adapters and jumper cables for a handy set. If the price is right for you, I wouldn't be TOO worried recommending it but overall it's just a cheap VFL ± like any other with some extras that may or may not be worth the price depending on what you already have.
