If you ever strain or sprain your middle finger, recovery is difficult because almost anything you try to grab with the injured hand will cause that finger to automatically flex, triggering acute pain. I recently strained the second (middle) joint of my middle finger on my right-hand torquing bolts while assembling an office chair. I was using an Allen wrench with a T-handle and with an awkward grip tightening one large bolt that joint was severely strained. I knew it was strained and not broken because I had nearly full motion and the nature of the twisting the T-handle Allen wrench would not likely break a bone like a striking injury could.I have arthritis, so any such strain is much worse the next day. Next day the middle joint was swollen to about twice its normal size and very painful. Without a middle finger splint, I had to McGuyer something using wooden popsicle sticks and some red duct tape. It looked weird and effectively immobilized that finger but nowhere near as good as a proper splint. I immediately ordered this one from Amazon.This brace was initially tricky to get on with a five hook-and-loop straps. One around your wrist, another across the palm and three more, one for each of the three segments of your middle finger. Every time I tried to put it on, one or more of the straps stuck to itself. I ended up asking my spouse to help me. Once it was properly adjusted it really immobilized that middle finger.The straps are very easily adjusted to hold the finger stationery. The stiffener (splint backbone) is more than up to the task of keeping that finger held straight. The construction is very sound, and the straps are made of material that breathes, so the device itself does not cause any discomfort or needless sweating like some splints will do.It took a few days for the splint to arrive from Amazon, but my finger was still pretty sore, so I had a real-life case to evaluate it. Once my spouse helped me to put it on the first time, I was able to take it off and put it on without any difficulties.With that splint on the finger, I can do almost anything with my right hand without causing any strain to the injured joint. It is comfortable enough to wear 24/7 thus protecting the finger while awake or sleeping. Time and immobilizing the finger will accelerate healing and this device works very well at that task. I felt immediate relief and will be wearing it for a few more days to be sure to give that joint a long rest.

I ordered this bandage for my index finger. When I put this bandage on it felt very uncomfortable. I had to adjust the steel plate to the shape of my hand and at the end bending it slightly upward away from my arm. The steel plate pressed into the skin. Still, my middle finger started to hurt after a few minutes. The pain was quite severe. A trigger finger usually doesn't hurt, it's just uncomfortable. After I removed the bandage, I couldn't use my finger for half an hour. I tried an old sports trick. I used my ring finger as a stabilizer by inserting it into the bandage with my middle finger. Both just fit into the bandage. Now I had no more pain. I am not very happy with this bandage, there are better solutions on the market.
