When I received this item the magnetic end of the item was supposed to be held on to the tube with a rubber plug that had some dried glue on it. The glue was not holding the rubber in the tube. I had to epoxy the rubber plug into the tube again. Once that glue cured, the glue that held the magnet into the chrome plate was also faulty and I had to epoxy the magnet back into the chrome plate.Not to bad of a fix but I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of the build.

Great idea, but poor execution. The screw is always coming apart, because if the saw’s vibration. Therefore the time saved has to be spent retightening the nut.

This separated from the base after the 2nd use, I glued it together and then the other end came off. My glue held but then the magnet which is mounted with plastic pieces to the aluminum shaft just broke. I’ve only used it a total of 4 times. It’s not high quality at all. The magnet is so strong, which it needs to be that trying to slide it off your saw it just falls apart. Unfortunate because it works great.

I have a large number of logs in the back yard ready to be turned into firewood. Prior to getting this tool, I would just eyeball (guestimate?) the size I wanted (targeting about 20-22") and found over time the variation was around that target was much larger than I wanted. I put this tool on a small electric chain saw and just use the combo to mark up the log and then bring out the gas chainsaw to make the actual cuts. It's been working great for me so far.

The Magnet is VERY strong, when removing the device the plastic affixing the magnet to the rod is weak and will break/pull out the threaded nut that holds the magnet on.Up side, easy to repair with a threaded metallic bushing epoxied in place of the cheap plastic that breaks.
