The new growth has a reddish tint and eventually matures to glossy green, setting off the rich purple flowers. Like the other Magic crape myrtles, Plum Magic will bloom again in late summer if the first flush of flowers are deadheaded. The plant I received was tiny and in a plastic bag with some dirt. It was too expensive for the size and the condition it came in. I was not able to plant outside immediately but kept in a none plastic bag, watered it as needed. In few days it was planted but by then all leaves were gone. I hope it will come back soon.At the same time I purchased another (red) crepe myrtle, which was less expensive but came in a pot and it already bringing new sprouts.

Planted as instructed same day it was delivered. Within 48 hours all leaves dried up, died and fell off. Seller contacted, replied "maybe plant is in shock, give it time." 3 weeks later dead, had to throw away. Bad quality obviously!
