Will not accommodate large spools. Might works with small spools but I buy 1700 yard spools or larger

Gimmicky but works as advertised. High friction and doesn't like the thin spools of quality line. It gets a 3 because it's good enough that I'll continue using it.

This thing is pretty funkie and not so easy to use but it did the job. I also got another, more expensive, fancier line spooler but after using this one, I sent the other one back unopened.The other one wanted to clamp onto your rod which I don't think is such a good idea. This one forms its own little rod so you don't need to. However, the only line tensioning you get with this one is provided by the friction of the two little gripper balls that hold the spool which I felt was only just barely good enough to do the job.The only instructions on usage you get are printed on the back of the box, in black against a dark brown background. Very difficult to read and very difficult to understand. There are 2 spool bushing supplied, both of which were much too large for the 17lb Stren spool that I was using. So the spool ended up having to just perch precariously riding the 2 balls directly and tilting from side to side threatening to fall off the entire time. (I took it easy and it didn't.)I don't spool line that often so I'm satisfied to use this one although it leaves a lot to be desired.

Ordered this for my husband, Who is very stubborn. He loves it. He spooled to new rods , and then went and redid two more with it. He said it was so easy for either regular or braided line.

I finally got a chance to spool up a baitcaster and a spinning reel. This is way better than a pencil through the spool and holding it between my toes. Super easy to mount and operate. A baitcaster was very easy. It spooled right on with no issues. Very quickly and efficiently. As for the spinner, I wouldn't recommend using for a large spinner. I tried this on my Shimano Baitrunner 7000 and the line pulled a bit at the top of the cycle. If the line spool was wider, it probably would have worked better, but I was using a standard spool of braid and it pulled off the side while winding. Keep this in mind when purchasing. Either way, for the money, this is a great addition for avid fishermen.
