I've used several different pickups over the years and this one by far is the best one. Super quiet when you aren't playing and super loud when you play. Awesome in the studio!!! It doesn't pick up the pick sound off the strings like other pick ups I've used. I've already purchased 2 and will be purchasing another one when I get my new Bajo Quinto. They are pricey but worth every penny. Highly recommend it!!!

This is the equivalent to the sunrise passive at a fraction of the price and the customer service is fantastic. Fishman went out of their way to send me new screws when one was badly manufactured. Buy this you won’t regret it

not a male 1/4 inch output.. the cable included is a mini xlr to female end-pin jack. Contrary to answers given in Q&A's.UPDATE: I added a star because, as I've tried some after-market cable work arounds and haven't found the right cable yet (some not the right config, some too poorly constructed and noisy) this pick-up is amazing. It might take an extra cable to connect the way I want but the sound is so natural. Not flat, no rubber-band sound. Full and purely natural with plenty of volume, even without a preamp (when plugged into my Fishman Mini Charge). My Yamaha FG-830 sounds far better, and louder, than my Taylor 110 with its built in ES.

Given the right context, this could be a good pickup.Blues fingerstyle, country G chord strumming— this is an option to consider.Delicate strumming, fingerstyle— look elsewhere.Needs a good preamp and/or EQ as well.Built very durable and heavy, so quality conto is there. But sound quality is hit or miss, depends on your ear and what you want to hear.

Extremely impressed to find that this "refurbished" item, was in new condition and unused, and only lacking the normally included extravagantly packaged poker chips! I'll take a heavy discount for that any day! The pickup itself is quality. The ability to raise/lower the magnets is a game changer, and the clarity of this thing is just wonderful for live performance.

Long time Sunrise pickup user which is considered the gold standard. I read one of Doug Young's reviews of the Blackstack and he compared it to a Sunrise so I bought one to try. I've done two gigs so far. One plugged into a Schertler Jam 400 straight, last night w/ a Sunrise buffer box preamp. It's my new favorite pickup. First, I installed it on my Waterloo without slacking the strings, an impossible task w/ a Sunrise as anyone who's installed one will tell you (i'm using the long cable draped out of the soundhole). It's smaller and lighter than a Sunrise and to my ear a bit more "acoustic" sounding, it seems like it has slightly less output with a clearer mid range.

This was so easy to mount in the sound hole it isn't even funny. Actually it is. I like that this doesn't require batteries. It's screw, plug, and play. The mini-XLR cable comes out of my sound hole and I'll probably keep it that way.The sound quality is exceptional and with proper care it will maintain the integrity of a sweet acoustic guitar. I wish I had bought this years ago!

This pickup has no hum and no battery. It has adjustable pole pieces for individual string volume. It has a good acoustic-like sound. It is easy to install and remove. It is black so it is not obvious in the sound hole.

Nice clean sound. As loud as the Fishman Active Humbucking Pick-up without the need of batteries. The packaging is overkill, I think that's what makes it so expensive. 100% satisfied with the sound & tone, will buy another.
