I love this box for my midge larva patterns. It works great for small-to-tiny sized flies (18-24). I've found that flies within this size range (and hence lower weight) are light enough to stay in place within the box even with long approach hikes and bumping around in your bag. Heavier flies, especially bead heads over size 18, will be heavy enough to fight the magnets and win.

I have another cheaper magnetic box... And it would allow small size 20 midges to excape and move from one compartment to another. This box holds them tight. Great upgrade

Lots to like about this box. Nice slim size to fit in pack. Strong magnets that hold flies without letting them move from compartment to compartment. Magnet closing that makes for easy opening and closing and see through lid so you know you've grabbed the right box. With all this going for it, why not one more touch, a light background?The dark brown background makes it difficult to see small flies clearly, that are most often dark themselves. So, modify with the magnets found in packs of Tiemco hooks. A little scraping with a razor blade and the red logo is easily removed. A slight trim and a drop of super glue and you have a great fly box with flies easily seen. Maybe Fishpond will catch on. We'll watch for next year's edition. Tight lines.

These hold your flies firmly to the magnet. Easy to open and close. Great option for a fly box.

I’ll never go back to fighting to organize midges into conventional fly boxes. I love the slim profile and magnetic door. Getting several more of these! The color is also pretty.

I just got this box and am starting to tie up and bunch of small flies to fill it up. Size 18 and smaller flies are hard to store in a "standard" fly box. They get lost or fall out when the box is opened. The magnetic backing in this box holds these small flies solidly. To get the small flies out, I use a pair of tweezers I have in my vest. Another great product from Fishpond.
