The Fishpond Tacky Original Fly Box – 2X Double is an excellent choice for fly anglers looking for a well-designed, durable, and highly functional fly storage solution. Right out of the box, it’s clear that this fly box is built to last. The hard-shell polycarbonate case feels sturdy and impact-resistant, providing solid protection for my flies even when tossed into a packed fishing bag or dropped on rocky terrain. The magnetic closure system is a fantastic touch—it keeps the box securely shut without the hassle of a latch, making it easy to open and close with one hand, even when wet or cold. The biggest advantage of this fly box is its silicone anchoring system. Unlike traditional foam inserts that can wear out over time, the Tacky silicone slots are extremely durable and hold flies securely. The 2X Double version offers twice the capacity of the standard box, making it perfect for those who like to carry a versatile selection of flies. With 288 slots, I can store a wide range of dry flies, nymphs, and small streamers without worrying about overcrowding. The clear lid is another thoughtful feature, allowing me to see my flies at a glance without having to open the box. While this box excels in almost every aspect, one small drawback is that it is not waterproof which I normally look for in a fly box but still very nice for some of my fliesOverall, the Fishpond Tacky Original Fly Box is an outstanding fly box for any angler looking for durability, smart design, ease of use, and ample storage space. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned fly fisher, this box is a reliable investment that will keep your flies organized and protected for seasons to come.

Firstly this box holds a lot of flies. It is more suited to soft hackles, perdigon, and nymph patterns. It does not come with flie!!!!! If it did you'd be paying $300 or more.... get real...I own 3.I've been fly fishing for over 50 years.Hands down, best boxes I've ever owned.Going for a double side again to house my frenchies, pheasant tails, and various fur bodied nymphs. You just can not beat these fly boxes.I love them.

I have a bunch from different makers. These tacky boxes are well made, good price and hold even the smallest flies. Solid closure.

This has been great for organizing all my nymphs in a single box. For dry flies with a taller head this probably doesn't have enough headroom, since it is double sided. Definitely not large enough for rubber legs or streamers on both sides. But in a single box you can store a ton of nymphs and the magnetic corners keep it closed. Everything feels high quality about it, but I don't think it is waterproof. For dry trout flies I bought the single sided Tacky box and it works well for that.

These are easily the best fly boxes I’ve ever used. The hooks slide in easily (once you figure out how they are meant go), the flies stay solidly affixed by the Tacky pad, and the case locks firmly together with neodymium magnets. The only thing that’s not perfect about them is the fact that they don’t float. That said, the lack of buoyancy didn’t keep me from buying two more of the Fishpond Tacky boxes, one for a small kit and the other for larger streamers.

I previously purchased the Orvis/Tacky collaboration box and assumed this box would be the same. This box, however is thinner, making it unsuitable to carry the lake patterns (leeches, dragonflies, damsels) that I intended to use it for, and out of the question for parachute dries. I also miss the original “cool-mint” blue. But these are minor quibbles. This box does hold my assortment of size 12-18 nymphs nicely. The low profile will maximize storage in a fishing pack where space is at a premium. The silicon holds flies firm, and I do not expect them to move around. Great box for carrying a solid assortment of every-day nymphs.
