This is exactly what the seller put on the title. The stock gearing in the rear is more teeth than this. This is for a highway speeds and a higher top end. Ultimately, you really don't notice any bottom in that is gone and I've read other reviews saying that people were not so happy about that. I don't know why. If you had read what you were buying and knew what you were looking for then you would have no issue. Final drive is a bit different of course because it's a smaller sprocket in the rear, giving you a higher top end, producing more vibration. It is a JT sprocket so it's a little heavier than normal but they're really robust. People also complain about the amount of links being too long. That's normal for all chains. They come in certain lengths and you always have to bust and connect on your own. I've never owned a motorcycle where I did not have to bust links. That being said, my package got lost in the mail. They reached out to the carrier and corrected everything, My package wound up being there a few days later so I have no complaints. No qualms and I'm super happy with what they're selling. Especially for the price, it's kind of hard to find a set of chain and sprockets below $100 that are actually of good quality.

The sprockets and chain are good quality. The chain is noticeably heavier than the stock. As to the gearing, the stock rear sprocket on a Shadow VLX is a 44. This is a 38 which is a BIG drop. But anyone who has ever ridden a VLX knows the stock gearing on that 4 speed transmission is insanely deep. This set reduces the final drive ratio to what it should've been from the factory. My bike still has no trouble pulling off from a stop. It doesn't feel like I'm slipping the clutch anymore than I used to. And now it doesn't feel like I'm riding a huge "feminine massage" device once I'm above 50 MPH.Now the reason I'm taking a star off is because the included chain is WAY too long. Even after cutting off a link, I still had to crank out the wheel to the limit of adjustment. It's not a huge deal TO ME because I'll just remove another link once the chain stretches in. But if you don't have the right tools/ability then this could be a gigantic pain because it's not a solution that will work right out of the box for your bike. Thus I deducted a star. Chains come in all lengths. I don't understand why they chose to bundle one that's ~3" too long.Bundle a shorter chain fellas ... I see a LOT of reviews on this package saying the same thing.

Bought for my 1997 Honda shadow vt600c. Chain was 1 to 2 links to long. Instead of returning it I just took the links out.

I purchased this chain and sprocket set in July of 2017 for my 2006 honda VLX VT600C. Writing this review in April of 2018. I installed the chain and sprocket myself. Noticed i said sprocket and not sprockets. Thats because the number of teeth on the new rear sprocket did not match my original one. It had less teeth, thus changing the ratio. Plus the chain had way too much slack. So I inspected my old sprocket and determined that I would leave it on since it was still in ok condition. I've cleaned and lubricated the chain once since I put it on. I've had no issues with my new chain or sprocket. They're doing well. I've only put little over 1000 miles or so on it since the replacement . I also don't drive it on muddy or rainy conditions. So take my opinion with that in mind.
