TRUSTY TREKKING POLES, MADE IN ITALY

Made in collaboration with Fizan, an Italian pole maker that’s been in business since 1947, these are among the lightest collapsible, fully adjustable trekking poles on the market. They feature the 7001 aluminum construction and super-strong locking system of Fizan’s original Compact poles, plus a few improvements to help you out on the trail. The EVA foam grip has a new ergonomic, cushioned design with a rounded plastic top for a more comfortable under-palm feel during descents. The straps are wider, smoother, and more pliable, which makes them more breathable and less likely to cause chafing. And to ensure you’re ready for varying terrain, the poles come with a pair of durable, grippy tip covers and two sets of hiking baskets.

Fizan Compact 3

COLLAPSIBLE, ADJUSTABLE & ULTRALIGHT

Featuring three sections, the Compact 3 is adjustable from 22.8 to 52 inches and weighs 5.6 ounces per pole. Meanwhile, the Compact 4 has four sections, is adjustable from 19.3 to 49.2 inches, and weighs 6 ounces. While the Compact 3 is a bit lighter and can extend longer, the Compact 4 collapses smaller, making it a good alternative for those who plan to travel with their poles inside their backpack or luggage. Both feature replaceable carbide tips for traction on dirt trails and metal-reinforced, highly textured rubber tip covers for rocky trails and slippery surfaces. Along with the included baskets, the poles can accommodate press-fit baskets from other brands.

Fizan Compact 3 Tips and Uses

WHY USE TREKKING POLES?

Ideal for anyone who wants to hike with greater speed and stability, trekking poles come in handy for rocky and uneven terrain, water crossings, steep ascents and descents, and stepps trails. They can be useful for those with back, knee, or ankle problems by distributing the load more evenly, and can also help minimize the chance of developing stress injuries. Plus, when you’re doing a multi-day trek, you can use the poles in your shelter or tarp setup.

ABOUT FIZAN: Founded in 1947 by Domenico Fincati, Fizan pioneered the use of aluminum in ski poles when the rest of world was still using steel or bamboo. Since then, the company has become a leader in the market, widely known in Europe for its alpine and Nordic walking poles, and among the ultralight community for its Compact series of trekking poles. Seventy years after its inception, Fizan remains family owned and operated, and all poles are still made in its factory in Veneto, Italy, using socially responsible practices.

I brought these on three trips now, and they are still going strong. I have had no issues with stability or breaking. Excellent value for money!

I like to hike, and I have hiked a lot! My original poles were heavy and had literally worn out. I wanted lighter ones the second time around but could’t bring myself to spend $150 or more. Stumbled upon this brand and they seemed too good to be true. They are sort of tok good to be true, but also not.The price to performance brings a great value! The down side is that you may need to buy 2 pairs. I did. I fell and bent a pole beyond repair, so I had to buy a second set, but now I have a bunch of spare parts! So I am definitely coming out ahead innthe long run. ^_^

I traded in my heavier aluminum poles with the clamp locks for these twist locks for the weight savings on longer hikes. You will be making some sacrifices to shave the weight but I'm happy that I did.Pros:Cost - Very affordableWeight - Extremely lightweight for aluminum trekking polesTwist Locking - No clamp locks to snag bushes on the trail or pocket liners on your packCons:Not as sturdy - Lightweight comes with less material so you will notice a vibration when hiking as the poles wiggle on hard impacts from the thin materialSmall pole head - The top of the trekking poles are a small plastic knob that is difficult to use if you palm the head on downward slopes. Conclusion: I'm going to be using these as my go-to long distance poles. The cons are an easy price to pay for the weight savings.

These are my favorite trekking poles (what I call "hiking sticks"). Very lightweight but seem sturdy. Easily adjustable. I always check the tightness before using. Very affordable compared to many poles on the market. I've been using them for a couple of years with no problems after a lot of trail miles in rugged terrain.

I've had/have numerous trekking poles and these are the lightest weight ones I own. Although I need slightly heavier ones for more serious hiking (mtns, etc.), these poles are absolutely fantastic for power walking/nordic walking. You aren't even aware you're carrying them yet they provide terrific guides for upper body movement while fitness/power/nordic walking. Lengthening/shortening is a breeze and they never slip. Grip is as good as my Leki poles which cost at least $150 more.

These are the poles recommended by Durston specifically as best for use with their X-Mid tents. I actually bought them before even considering the tent because the price-to-weight ratio seemed unbeatable. I was not at all disappointed! For aluminum, these things are light enough to contend with the popular carbon fiber poles on the market. Further, they will bend rather than break on the off chance you jam them deep between two rocks as just so happened to me in Rocksylvania, in fact. Of course now the one bent pole won't fully collapse, so when I need to take them down, I just pull that segment out completely.I never had to replace these poles (I still use them now) and they are one of the most used pieces of gear on a hike. In addition to the bend, I wore the carbide tips smooth. The ends where they connect also built up a good bit of salt and dirt that has caused them to bind up more now. The handles have darkened from sweat and dirt, but never fell apart. These use a twist lock feature which is a big help for keeping them light. However, they may slip a bit when subjected to hard stops or used to catch a fall. The twist lock is more convenient, I think, when setting up a trekking pole tent when compared to a latching pole. Even with the few drawbacks listed above, I would absolutely buy a new pair of these to replace my current set for a future long hike.

This is my first trekking pole and I am extremely happy with Fizan. Lightweight and compact, easy to pack and fit into luggage. Handgrip was very comfortable. It was easy to adjust the length of the poles. The twist and turn mechanism works very well. Sturdy and reliable.

They are sleek and so light it's hard to believe, yet they seem quite sturdy. The grips are a little small, but the adjustable straps help to compensate; if you use them right they sort of "grip you back". I'd really like to give them five stars, but they tend to slip if you don't screw them down very tight. And if you're not careful, you'll screw them down so tight you can't unlock them. Happened to one of mine and I had to finish a 34-mile hike with short poles.UPDATE: Downgraded from four stars to one. I never was able to unstick my stuck pole. I researched it (there are whole web pages devoted to this problem) and tried everything. It will not budge. They are worthless to me now. Even if I could get it loose, I could never trust them again. I got maybe half a dozen day hikes out of them, and they're now garbage.

Excellent, well designed, well engineered ultralight poles. Simple to use and adjust. Worked great in the Grand Canyon with exceptionally steep, long trails.Knocking off a star only because the included rubber tips are nearly useless. Wore right through within about 15 minutes of first use. Fortunately I found these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09B4G14PL?ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details&th=1&psc=1 , which fit nicely and work like a charm.
