This torch is absolutely amazing and does the job and then some using just regular propane but does even better with mapp gas. It's very fuel efficient and gets the job done very quickly without an problems. I would recommend using it with a torch hose so that it's a little bit more comfortable you handle and use without the propane tank being in the way. Would definitely recommend you buy it. For the price it is it's an absolutely amazing torch and it's the first one I reach for whenever I need a propane torch

Decent quality Propane torch head with igniter. Similar design as many other torch heads. Construction and design seem pretty durable. The igniter works well and I haven’t had it fail to light ignite the touch when prompted. When compared to Benzomatic Torch head that I have and use on a regular basis, I would say that they both operate similarly. My biggest observation would be that the Benzomatic is easier to operate using one hand. The torch head is very reasonably priced considering the features and when compared to other torch heads available.

Probably one of the best propane torches you're going to find for the buck. I like this one more than the one that self ignites because I think it is a hotter flame with more control.

This is a sturdy well-made torch, but it does have a few quirks. First, it doesn't have an integral piezo igniter to ignite the gas - you'll need a lighter, a sparker, or some other ignition source to get it burning. Although not explicitly stated, that was obvious from the listing and I do not penalize the torch for that design choice. A more annoying quirk is the control valve: the knob must be rotated an insane amount (2-1/2 turns) for any gas at all to be released. I initially thought the valve was non-functional until I decided as a last resort to open it all the way. I suspect some safety regulation requires this, but I find it annoying and take off half a star. Another quirk is the nature of the flame: it is very quiet until the valve is opened very wide, at which point it suddenly and loudly shrieks. The flame burns very cleanly and is nearly invisible, even when quite large, until the valve is opened wide and it starts shrieking. I think this is due to the long gas/air mixing tube; most other torches mix in the air much closer to the burner head. The unusual feature of this torch is the rotatable burner tube. The flame can be directed up, down, or sideways, all while the gas tank is held nearly vertically. This is very handy for putting the flame exactly where you need it and you can point the flame down without turning the tank bottom-up, which shouldn't be done (it injects liquid propane into the burner rather than gas, which causes the flame to suddenly grow very large). I like this feature very much, and it makes all the other quirks forgivable. 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.

My first impression of this torch was negative because it arrived in a shoplifting-proof bubble pack. This is the kind that means a struggle to get at the product. It’s a fight that results in sharp edges during extraction that will cut fingers or anything that comes into contact with it. Worse, the material for the plastic bubble used for this product is thicker than any I’ve ever encountered.I ended up cutting the image of the product, printed on the back, out which released the product with much less fuss and no risk. I recommend this tactic. Please see the image of the back cut out and the product ready to remove. The torch won’t light unless the valve is turned many times to the maximum flow. After lighting, the flame can be turned down to quite small. The gas valve takes many turns to get to maximum which means there’s a good deal of fine tuning of the flame height.I can’t measure the flame temperature but even if it’s not much hotter (if any) than conventional torches, the amount of propane being consumed conveys a great deal of heat to the target surface. At all settings, the flame has the same blue color shown in the image. It did fine getting some charcoal going as well as starting a fireplace fire.I’d prefer fewer turns from valve closed to light torch but can live with these many. What I do ding the product for is the miserable and sometimes dangerous packaging. Nobody is going to cut the product out to shoplift it because it’d be equally easy to shoplift by taking the whole package so the added security adds little or nothing. It shows the manufacturer cares little about the safety and convenience of its customers, though.
